Actually it is quite exact, but in the morning I also say: "Please don't forget to wash my jeans and shirts I wear at dancing!" ;)

I know.... I'm kinda the female version of that, sometimes.

....getting back to the topic: my SO & I met at the salsa scene.
While I was the more 'hardcore' one of the two, we share similar values outside salsa & have totally different but complementary personalities; it's been a great three years of my life even if my focus is not on salsa at the moment.

I think a relationship CAN work, as long as you are "on the same page" as your partner in core values. Different interest & personality can all fit nicely with communication & understanding. AND compromise; at least some of the times.

Am I frustrated from not dancing as much or as often...? Of course!

Do I feel secure & fufilled overall...? Definitely.

I am a follower, having the dance of my life. Sure, I'm not going to like every move that gets thrown at me, but I am commited to do my best & have fun doing it :D !!

Why am I doing it? Because I choose to dance instead of sitting it out :P !

Would you marry an On1 dancer if you were an On2 dancer, and vice-versa?

Would you marry anyone that really wants to do rueda all the time? I mean, that's kinda suspicious both on dancing principles and because of the group sex thing.

I've stayed out of this thread but as I lurk, am getting increasingly worried by the awful things that might happen if you do espouse another dancer. What if they didn't like tango and you did?

No, the likely complications are just too fearsome to contemplate. After much reflection, I think it would be better to marry a tennis player.
 
I dance On 2 and married an On 2 dancer. I don't think it should matter if you prefer different styles. We both used to dance and now we only dance socially. We know that if we make dancing a priority in our life then it will strain our relationship. Needless to say we have a positive outlook on the rest of our future together. So,, if you're both committed to each other and understand that no activity should detract from each other and have its relative place then the rest is minimal.... but that takes honest communication and unselfish compromise.

My wife can dance on whatever she prefers, as long as she does not dance cha-cha on 1...

I wonder whether it would qualify as a ground for divorce, anyways... ;)

I'm married to an On1 dancer. I like On2 but I also dance On1 (and Cuban style too) so it's not a problem. I can't see it becoming an issue for any married couple unless one can only dance on1, the other can only dance on2, and both only want to dance with each other but neither is willing to try the other style.

I actually don't mind rueda. I called a couple ruedas this past Friday. However, I do it more because I see someone else who wants to and less because I do. Well sometimes one of those songs that I don't like come on and rueda is a palatable way to deal with it...too...

It would be nice to go out with someone who loves & dances salsa. But I've always been hesitant about it because of what I have seen in the salsa world. Because salsa is a very sexy, explosive & passionate dance and some of these girls throwing themselves at guys- it's quite hard for some guys to remain faithful. Not to mention the gossips as well. Therefore, I would probably marry someone who is not a salsa dancer but interested in dancing.

But then what's the difference? They'll end up loving salsa and then eventually become unfaithful not able to resist the girls?
 
If the guy is going to be a cheater and no be able to resist the girls, then it doesn't matter if the passion is salsa, skiing, wine-tasting, or any other thing. Temptation is always there for those that seek it out.
 
Yeah, I think you've got to have an innate cheatological gene. If a guy has that, then salsa could make the difference between him actually committing the act and not. The gossip seems to be more of a killer to me. My SO (who is a salsera) doesn't like the rapport I have with some girls on the dance floor. I'm treading a fine line between being rude to them, denying myself innocent fun, and being disresepctful of her...
