Attention seeking, that's the point. As a narcissist Trump has the best time of his life. Everybody and everything is concentrating on him, trying to speak to him, wondering each day what he's doing next. Also his wish to take over Greenland makes only sense for immortalizing his name. It's a dangerous game for the world, but a 79 year old narcissist not known for having a religious inclination has little to loose. It's really bad.

I have heard about that proposal and I wonder how it would be enforced. If a dual national does not disclose their other citizenship, how does anyone find out?

Fwiw, Bernie Moreno a US Senator from Ohio is from Colombia where his family were supporters and members of the right wing govts in power at the time. Those right wing govts deployed paramilitaries to displace people from their land or kill them in order to steal the land. He comes from a family of not nice people.
 
I had a dream. The dream was that 2 possibilities happened. Trup
Mp would be deposed and then join putin in a war against America and take over cuba. The other was putting attacking N.A via Alaska and trump using that as an excuse to annex at least b,.c , or not helping canada u less they gave up land or resources.
Deep downni think this is all a ploy amd trump and pouting are working together to own half the world each.
 
A swiss journalist reported that a Davos meeting speech was never so overcrowded as today the one from Trump. Many journalists couldn't get inside the hall and had to watch it in an adjacent room on TV screen. Trump is having the time of his life, everybody wanting to hear him. Entertaining he is, and very successful in annoying europeans, but the price for this comedy could be high.
 
Regarding Greenland.
I read an article in the German newspaper Die Zeit where they interviewed a German geologist who was contracted by the Danish govt to evaluate the mineral wealth of Greenland. He worked there for more than 10 years. I will summarize the article as it is in German and behind a paywall.

His conclusion was: too complicated, too cold, too far away.
Specifically. To excavate minerals, one would have to construct roads, energy sources, harbors etc. If that were done, one would still have to separate the rare earth metals from the minerals they are bound to. He mentioned something called Eudialyt. It contains rare earths which might be extractable in a lab but not on an industrial scale. There is a gold mine in Greenland but even at today's high gold price, it is not profitable.

So there it is. Greenland may have vast mineral "wealth", but it is worthless.

If it were (commercially feasible), no one would have waited.

The climate change could change all that in the next few decades.

Despite Musk supporting and reposting racial and misogynistic posts. Media keeps repeating how social media creates addiction and method it uses to keep people on it. Yet the media and journalists can’t quit the platform.
 

What percentage of GDP have the leading economies in Europe spending on social safety net and benefits like unemployment, housing, etc ? Defence if I read the reports correctly had been 2% or less.

While increasing defence spending to 5% might cause decrease elsewhere, it isn’t that hard to cut 3% on other spendings.

I am highly skeptical of a lot of “defence” experts prediction of outright war with Russia. It makes no sense for Russia to attack Europe as a whole on multiple fronts. It can hardly match Ukraine. Europeans have much superior long range arms to strike deep in Moscow and a functioning airforce (which Ukraine never had). Increasing spending only will enrich the military-industrial complex. As we have seen in the USA. You start finding reasons to feed the beast.

How realistic is the logic that Russian attack on Ukraine’s eastern front endangers Europe. It is taken as an article of faith. That’s like saying if China invades Taiwan tomorrow then all of South East Asia and Japan would be in danger.

I think it will start incrementally. Russia originally invaded Crimea in 2014. Then it went back for more in 2022. Estonia, Latvia and Moldova amongst other possibilities could be at risk.

Yes, it is not going to be an outright war v Nato but more regional land grabbing, bullying and stirring revolt, especially in Russian speaking areas.
