I suspect there won't be poll this midterm. He's gonna start a war to call for emergency powers to stall election or to extend his term to then declare he won't step down (to thunderous applause).

Israeli officials told The Associated Press that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in Saturday's major attack on Iran by the U.S. and Israel. Following his death, the country's president has said a leadership council has begun work to choose a successor. The group of hard-line clerics will choose a replacement in the next "one or two days", according to Iran's Foreign Minister....

Merz condemns the attacks from Iran.
Wasn’t he visiting DC meeting Trump? I haven’t read him saying he condemns the attacks.

The Middle East war will have side effects on Russian Ukrainian conflict. Russia will be able to sale oil at higher prices. The air defense supplies to Ukraine from the USA will face shortfall as they get depleted in the Middle East.

NATO intercepted missile fired towards Turkey. But reports indicate that Iran is firing less missiles indicating its stock is depleting.

Iran's stock is depleting and a large part of its missile launchers have been destroyed, however, i believe that still has a large amount of attack drones....according to the United States and Israel, for this military operation to succeed, Iran's ability to strike its neighbours and build a nuclear weapon must be drastically reduced, although, Iran won the Twelve-Day War, this time the US and Israel are wining....however, regime change is a more difficult task, the US and Israel will have to buildup militarily in Iraq to invade Iran, similar to the Iraq war, where the United States massed militarily in Saudi Arabia before the invation of Iraq, by the way, i dont think that the United Staes and Israel are considering invading Iran

I read an article in the German periodical Die Zeit. They stated that this part of the ongoing war on Iran was started because China was about to sell hypersonic ship missiles to Iran. If they had been delivered to Iran, the US aircraft carriers would be sitting ducks.

Russia learned the hard way that its navy is virtually useless in defending against drone boats. The US has tried to pre-empt the same fate for its navy.

My opinion: I think that thinking is too linear. If a cheap weapon exists that eliminates the power of a very large and expensive weapon, that large expensive weapon has become obsolete.

Examples:
1. Battleships vs air power. The Royal Navy lost its two best ships in the Pacific in WWII when the Japanese torpedo bombers sank them. Battleships became irrelevant unless that navy had air superiority.

2. Tanks vs drones. Russia learned in its war on Ukraine that missiles and killer drones make tanks virtually obsolete as attack weapons. They can still function as highly mobile artillery pieces operating far from the battlefield but are useless at the front lines.

3. Drone boats vs advanced missile cruisers. Russia learned the hard way that their navy is virtually useless and cannot leave port w/o the risk of losing the ships. Even in port they have to put up so many defense lines that it makes it impossible for ships to leave port.

4. Hypersonic missiles vs aircraft carriers. The showdown has been avoided so far but the fact that a killer weapon exists means that the effectiveness of aircraft carriers against a well-armed adversary is very limited.

Aircraft carriers are expensive seating ducks in modern warfare. They need expensive flotillas around them for protection.

Both hypersonic missiles and swarm of one way drones can cause a lot of headaches for aircraft carriers.

The Middle East is already asking Ukraine for cheaper intercepted drones. They are right now using expensive air defense missiles to counter cheaper drones sent by Iran. That is asymmetrical cost in warfare. It is easier and inexpensive to send a swarm of cheap drones, which can also include decoy drones.

Hypersonic cruise missiles are almost impossible to intercept. They are different than hypersonic ballistic missiles which the air defenses are intercepting. Though militarily very weak against USA and Israel, Iran does have advantage of launching drones that can target USA ships and Gulf countries. It has harder time targeting Israel further away with drones.

I didn't know that? I guess only the iranian government says this.

the 12-day war was inconclusive, the conflict significantly disrupted Iran's proxy network but failed to permanently eliminate its nuclear ambitions, significant elements of the program survived or have since been reconstituted....the 12-day war was a precursor to the larger ongoing conflict where Iran has attacked at least 9 countries in the region, if the US and Israel won the 12-day war why they attacked Iran again?...in my opinion, because the 12-day war was an inconclusive war for the United States and Israel, the war was not won

USA attacked because Israel did. Israel did because Netanyahu always wanted to decapitate the Iranian regime. They already had set back the nuclear program significantly during the 12 days war as per multiple intelligence reports including USA and IAEA. USA allowed itself to drag into the war by Israel. Israel had perfect intelligence to take out the Iranian leadership, therefore they acted on it. That was initial salvo of the current war.
