Very beautiful!Does it gave to be latino music?
I wonder if they have instrumental mixes too.. that singing is so horrible it hurts. Why is timba doing this to me?Today's track... I can't stop listening to this! Specially the last coro.
You might just not like the original way of how Rumba etc. is sung. That should be no problem, just don't listen to it!I wonder if they have instrumental mixes too.. that singing is so horrible it hurts. Why is timba doing this to me?
They are terrible live too. I've heard it too many times. And live you have to deal with chatter and self promotion and begging for applause. However, live concert recordings often are terrible when you listen to them later.
I'd be curious! Please post! They are terrible live too. I've heard it too many times. And live you have to deal with chatter and self promotion and begging for applause.
There is quite a lot of timba that I like, but I'm afraid, if I'm gonna play it to the timba fans, they will run away in disgust![]()

Not right now. 2 years ago I went across several seas to Lima and Mayimbe decided not to play the week I was there. Still mad.I'd be curious! Please post!
Meaning Mayimbe is one of the groups you like singing-wise?Not right now. 2 years ago I went across several seas to Lima and Mayimbe decided not to play the week I was there. Still mad.![]()
Meaning I really like some of their music and am willing to travel and pay to see them live.Meaning Mayimbe is one of the groups you like singing-wise?
We started with singing qualities. So no context there? I like them by the way!Meaning I really like some of their music and am willing to travel and pay to see them live.
I'm like their singing, but I don't think there is really a timba band whose singing I enjoy a lot. Calle Real, Mayimbe, Havana D'primera, probably.. but I've not seen Mayimbe live.We started with singing qualities. So no context there? I like them by the way!![]()
Honestly, it really depends of what definition of "liking the singing" chooses for me to "sign" that I like the singing of a Timba singer. I will never feel the same about the singing of Dinah Washing, Nancy Wilson or Ella Fitzgerald (just to name some) like I feel listening to great soneros. The qualities are different, the technique is different, the musical focus is different. There is a couple of Timba bands where the singing actually disturbs me, but it's usually not "the big ones". And certainly it's not Paulito FG or Elito Reve.I'm like their singing, but I don't think there is really a timba band whose singing I enjoy a lot. I think we discussed this already. What I can add, that I have no problem with punk rock singers being bad. Or people who sing their own songs. They can do what they want - it's their music.Honestly, it really depends of what definition of "liking the singing" chooses for me to "sign" that I like the singing of a Timba singer. And there is quite a couple salsa singers that don't really make me crazy either singing, specially cuerpos.
No, but I get your point. All in all it's more about us, the listeners. In some contexts we have more tolerance than in others.I think we discussed this already. Still many people think it‘s from Los Van Van... But of course they just covered it. Strange for me by the way, I don‘t know why they did. It‘s a strange piece for being covered by them.Spicy
