London people...

For those interested - Saturday 11th June, I'll be DJ'ing in London at I Like It Like that (@ Saw Swee Hock Student Centre, 1 Sheffield Street, WC2A 2AP). I'm the warm up DJ, after which they have DJ Giannis Rigalos from Greece headlining on the decks so I'll be happily dancing around after when he's on, if i've not met you before do come and say hi :)
Damn, I'll be away that weekend... :( Have fun! :)

Most classes teach a little shines before partnerwork. Alandale Luke teaches a 2 hour drop-in class every Sunday. But it is advanced and On2 though. https://www.facebook.com/events/245518005807057/

Hey guys, I'll be in London from March 16th-22nd. What areas would be best to stay at if I want easy access to the best on2/on1/bachata dancing and to Maida Vale. Thanks!

16th March - Bachata at Tito's - weekly classes and social (classes 7:30 - 10pm, moderna and dominican, then social til late). I don't do Bachata much, but this is regarded as one of the best bachata nights of the week with high level classes.

17th March - El grande - monthly event 8pm - 5am at Scala (nearest tube Kings Cross) - even on1/on2, with also a cuban, kizomba and bachata rooms. Good floor and venue, several DJs, usually great music, multiple shows, social gets better after midnight.

18th March - Salsa fusion - bimonthly event, 9:30 pm - 2 am (nearest tube Great Portland Street) - has an xbody and a cuban room, usually busy, but I rarely go so can't speak much about it. Johnny the G DJ.
18th March - Bachata spice - also bimonthly, one of the most popular Bachata nights, 7:45 pm - 2:30 am (nearest tube Holborn).

19th March - SOS - weekly night, 7pm-8pm and social from 8pm to 11pm - good music, one big room, xbody only, mix of on1/on2, nearest tube Russel Square, DJ Julian the Duke

20th March - Bar Salsa Supermario's Mondays - 7-9pm classes, then social until 2 am - Bar Salsa is really busy as usual, but the classes with Mario are worth attending, and if you stay longer, it gets better room wise as they move the tables away (I would say on1 prevalent), nearest tube Leicester Square/Tottenham Court Road, DJ Julian the Duke.

21st March - TNT - on2 only night, classes from 7pm-9pm and social from 9pm to midnight, nearest tube Tufnell Park, this is a highly regarded night as well

Hotel depends on your budget, but location wise I would be staying somewhere in zone 2 in West or North London (preferably with access to Bakerloo line to get to Maida Vale easily). I would go for Airbnb myself in West London if you are looking to save. I would also buy a weekly travelcard for Zone 1-2 which will allow you travel as much as you want around London. It costs £33 and includes all transport (except taxis of course).

I've attached a tube map with the above event locations.

Wow, information overload. Thank you!

Is Picadilly circus a nice area to stay at? it appears convenient for Tube lines, but it is close to Soho so I worry that it may be quite loud.

Well, it is as central as it gets, perfect location-wise, access to Bakerloo to get to Maida Vale without changes and being in zone 1 will let you get to any of the venues/places you want to visit easily. It is a busy and loud area, but I've never stayed there, I would imagine it would depend on sound isolation of the place you are staying in? Also you will struggle to find decent supermarkets in zone 1, so unless you plan eating out at all times, you might have to conduct several detours to stock up on food (which is just a minor nuisance to consider).

I find Northern Line very convenient for salsa in London... Tito's, El Grande, SOS, Bar Salsa and TNT are all easily accessible, so you've got all the nights covered except the Saturday night.

If staying in Zone 1 is your preference, I would go for the King's Cross/Bloomsbury area (which I used to do before I moved to London). Convenient for many Tube lines and there are tons of hotels, from budget(-ish by London standard) to luxury.

Hey everyone, I'll be in London next Saturday (Jan. 21st) -- any good salsa or casino parties that night?

As far as I know, there is only Salsa Fusion, opens at 9 pm, 1 hour salsa class, then dancing until 2 am. Crossbody room and a Cuban room, quite spacious, costs £9.

229 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PN.

I've only been once 7-8 months ago, so can't really say much, but it is one of the longest going bimonthly parties.

Pity you are not coming on Friday 20th - there's a good mambo night on.

The only thing I know is happening on Saturday is Salsa Fusion. The Cuban room (confusingly called "the Fusion room") usually plays good, hardcore timba and you do find some good casino dancers. The salsa room music can be good but not always. I wouldn't necessarily call it a crossbody room since a lot of dancers there do that South American cumbia-ish style dancing. The clientele is very different from the SOS/TNT crowd.

If work's not too crazy, I might pop in :)

I guess there are some hustle-free places left!:)
