Hitting New York...

Hehe. Actually I am going to a concert in a park tomorrow, but no idea which one. I will be stocking up on mosi repellent now though! The mosquitos here are evil little devils.
DC is my mostly non-salsa holiday; lol, bit weird...well, there is the DC bachata congress, so maybe not a totally dance free week :)

I've heard really good things about the c0ngress from salseros and bachateros....

+1

If airfare wasn't $200+ each way, I would have popped in. But we have Jazz festival this weekend with a lot of salsa bands and outdoor dancing for two days.

Your photo looks like you are pulling off a 007 maneuver :)

For those who will be in New York around the end of October: Frankie's Abakuá dance company will have a performance that will include their newest piece, Lost Battalion.

"In a time of war, a lone battalion, lost to the atrocity is given the task of ferrying wandering souls, through the aperture of limbo, to their ultimate rest. Those who make peace with their fate will find the general's troops as angelic chaperones, leading them to their freedom. But for those who oppose and cling to the illusion of life, they will face the tenacious torment of a demonic unit set on forcibly seducing the soul into submission. This is one such story."

Back in New York after a month of great travel. :) Any SFers in NY at the moment? I will be going to a concert at Taino Towers on Wednesday featuring SF's own groovept if anyone would like to join. :)

4 hours of bachata followed by 5 hours of salsa with one of my favorite DJs, followed by a day off? Sounds like pure bliss! :D See you there. :)

I'll make sure to bring enough spare tops since I anticipate this event will require a lot. ;)

I went!! it was awesome!!!!
----------------------------on another note-------------
I have to post a good review about SALSAMANIA on Saturdays in NYC.
AWESOME - AWESOME -AWESOME
little dance space, dancers are really good all levels, the atmosphere is so great everyone is friendly. beginners are not shy and I would even dare say they are pretty good. I danced with a lot of beginners (they say they were begiiners, maybe they were triking me!! LOL).

I had an amazing time!!!
Purely Salsa, Pachanga & Cha-Cha... just what I needed!!!

I went to LVG last night for the first time in more than a month, since I was travelling in September.

The music is just as good as I remember, the dancers just as great and just as musical. I had a lovely cha cha dance--oh, how I've missed cha cha dancing in the last few weeks! And it was nice to see all my friends as the only two dance nights I've been to since I got back (Taino Towers and Cache bachata anniversary) are off the "mainstream" salsa calendar.

I got a lot of "hey, where have you been!" questions from the people who didn't know I had been travelling. And one of my favorite dance partners said he had been looking for me at the parties and wondering "where his cha cha partner was" :). It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :)

Even though I've been back for two weeks, it's only now that I am back with my salsa family (though I still need to dance with quite a few people) that I *really* feel I am back home. :)

I ♥ ♥ ♥ New York! :)

Anyone (besides Toan) planning to visit anytime soon?

Just a note to let people who will be in New York next weekend know that tickets for Abakuá's Saturday performance are sold out, but there are still tickets available for the Friday performance (October 26). So if you are planning to go, don't wait until the last minute to get your ticket.

Hi! Anything happening for Halloween? Visiting for 2 weeks (starting Monday Nov 28)

* side note: what do you wear when you dance this time of year? I'm from Manila and I'm not used to the chill in the air, it's cold for me.
