Nothing because my spell check misspelled it.

That should read "TAKE the wheel." As in taking control as leader. "In the cut" means falling back "in the pocket." Or being in-sync rhythmically while transitioning to an earlier or other role within one's dance.

I didn't know that: eight and a half years in prison before he was released and expelled to Brazil. He is just a name for me, I wasn't dancing yet while he was famous, but his name sounds. That should have been a shock wave in the dance community back in 2011, but these things never stop.

I don’t think it was a shock wave. The indictment had been coming and investigation lasted a year or more. Can’t recall. It was discussed in the real time on the SF and you can go back read those threads

More accurate to say that he got caught and most others escaped. Perhaps he was more predatory than others but many male dance instructors then and now are predatory.

He had been targeted previously but LE was unable to put together a strong case. This SOB was so arrogant that he turned his legal problems into a dance routine. Conveying the message that the victim was solely after his $$$.

While he sat in jail the first time. Awaiting for a grand jury indictment, he had some groupie go on all the boards (Salserosweb in particular) and post messages stating if anyone could reach out to Alex's friends, like Magic Johnson or Sinbad the comedian, to please let them know he could use their help with bail. GMAFB.

Eventually he was let go due to lack of evidence. Some time later the case was reopened as this Mo'Fo' continued to violate Women under the guise of private instruction. When 3 victims. Who had never met each other, all began to convey commonalities in Alex's M.O. it was compared to the earlier victim's accusation and it fit a pattern. That's when they indicted and a jury agreed with the prosecution and convicted him.

During this period in between charges, he had many people advocating for him or giving him the benefit of the doubt. People who I considered "good," but who obviously allowed their misguided loyalty to a friendship that was as fake as Alex DaSilva. You had people sobbing or expressing sorrow for Alien Ramirez, his ex-dance partner. Poor Alien. After all she did for him, he made her look bad. Boo hop. Meanwhile not one word of support for the victims.
