Which Salsa Congresses Or Major Events Do You Plan To Attend in 2020?

I think On2 in Paris isn't Puerto Rican On2 or Jimmy's On2 or Razzatazz On2, it is probably ET On2. I say this from my experiences dancing in Paris. I don't see a need for outrage or distain. It is only a dance event. Were you planning to go?

This almost reminds me of the ancient threads about whether Cha Cha should be danced On2 or On1
I have elitism baggage what can I say. I get triggered. But I ask because I dance on 2 sometimes. But sometimes I want to dance ET2, sometimes Son Timing. Sometimes I wanna step forward on 2. Sometimes I want to dance 1. Not in the same song mind you. But it all depends on the song.
No outrage per se, but I legitimately don't understand the concept. And what would happen of someone chose to dance not on Eat2 or was all "mmm this song is better on 1". I read the description after my post btw and it the post makes no such snobbish statements but once the can was open it was time to go fishing.
Oh. Chachachá always on 2....leader going forward. ):^D

Hollowman. I was basing my question off the "its only on 2". Since I read the full explanation from someone else's post, I stopped caring. Though if it was an on2 only event my question would still stand.

That is why I remarked strawman since you are imagining things that are unlikely :)

Whether you dance on1 or casino, you are not going to get thrown out.

The event is highly discouraging On1 dancers from attending. In my opinion, On1/On2 should be mixing more as they're danced in the same linear style. Again, you never see On1 only events, tiempo only events or contratiempo only events. That's my gripe. The on2 (mostly ET2) community wants to stand out for some reason.

It might be good to make threat about events where people DO NOT PLAN TO ATTEND. And then diss the same events each year which they are not attending. And in this thread talk trash about events you hate but still go.
I plan to go to Warsaw fest if it will happen, and I already know I'll hate music there.

ET2 is okay for some songs but it would never be my default and to me is by no means the be all end all. It feels forced for me unless the song had a hard 1 and a hard 2. Even Mambo D in the ET instructional DVD was dancing 234 678. To me it is most natural and intuitive, if you are dancing to the conga (as most on 2 people claim to do more than on 1 does , that makes no sense), it is far more natural be focus on the 2 open slaps of the conga as the focal point vs a step after. If you ride in that koong koong you can just coast on through nice and easy.
Forward or back on 2 depending on where the guys in the song are that you want to accentuate.maybe you want to spin her on 2. Maybe you want to end the spin on 8 t to 1 for a big horn hit.

On2 is a sub culture. On1 is a dominant culture. That is why you won’t see on1 only events.

I prefer they not mix. My primary reason is music (DJs play better music when they know it is on2 crowd). Most of the festivals have a mix of on1 and on2 anyways.

I just noticed Berlin got postponed till 2021. What a bummer. I think the first major event will probably be packed as people are getting restless.

I am confused.

There is the Berlin Salsa Congress and Berlin Salsa Congress Global Edition.

The original BSC is canceled, but seems the Global edition is still happening?

It's very confusing reading the website.

Per FB, the Global Edition is on course. I agree, the website set up doesn’t make it clear that the main congress and the global edition are two separate events.

I really don't see it any different than many local events happening on the same weekend.

Good for the areas that don't have regular local socials. For metros where there are multiple options to dance during a week, this is not going to change or enhance the experience. No cigar.

The big plus of festivals to me is dancing with many good dancers in one place that you don't get chance to otherwise. Everything else pales in comparison.

Just saw an ad on FB for this event:

Paris Salsa Marathon2

From the description: This will be a private event, for those who dance on2.

Ouch. So I'm guessing if you can't dance On2, you aren't allowed to go or are discouraged from attending. Never heard of such snobbery before.

If it makes folks feel better, this event has officially been cancelled.
