Which Salsa Congresses Or Major Events Do You Plan To Attend in 2020?

(In reality though all people whom I've met and who do MCC are very nice and dance with me all styles I dance.)

How many you have met and danced with? Single digit or dozens? Also do they tell you they do MCC or you just know because there is MCC school where you dance :)

Single digit, but several different countries. I know because they post videos where there are more of them. They have distinct enough style, so they stand out.
I don't go to Cuban salsa events outside my city, to see a timba band live, or when salsa friend invites me and I'm in that city for some other reason.

In Europe Cuban salsa scene is probably much larger than linear one. That's what people who go to both say. I don't know much about it.

Just saw an event for BOB 2020. Ie. Break On Budapest.

They are changing the format a little, but will try to make it happen

There will be:

No workshops
No bootcamp

Only social dancing.

This is kind of strange. If they somehow think social dancing is safer than workshops and the bootcamp lol, but okay...

That's Hungary for ya...

Why do you assume it's safer? I think it's rather that in social dancing you can place responsibility to play it safe to participants, not organizers.

The event organizers decided not to have workshops or the bootcamp but are allowing social dancing.

That means they think social dancing is safer than having workshops, which I find suspect.

I do not think it has anything to do with safety. Organizing workshops a is costly. And risk of cancelled flights and teachers getting stuck in some country is with organizers. With social dancing they have to cover only venue cost. Plus, I do not think most people miss workshops as much as social dancing ;)

Serious dancing going on in Prague this weekend:

Has a Salsa Marathon vibe to it. Reeeeeally cheap too at 40Eur! If you don't mind dancing with filthy germ infested foreigners!

The Vienna Salsa Congress has announced that it has cancelled their event for December. It makes me wonder if Warsaw will follow suit? Checking their website, it appears that they are selling passes still.

More like, more profitable to organize, by not having to pay any instructors. Is the ticket price at least lower than usual?

Hungary is closing its borders to all foreigners starting September 1st to fight the influx of new Covid infections coming mainly from abroad. This means that BOB and all other festivals organized in Hungary will be massively affected.

There is a beach festival happening right now in Siofok at Lake Balaton, which I'm pretty sure is attracting quite a lot of foreigners. I know about 5 people who are there currently. It typically has 700+ people in attendance.

The instability and confusion with traveling in Europe is mind boggling. How people are still comfortable with traveling then going into mandatory quarantine when they return makes my head explode. Pleasure pain paradox.

The Prague Salsa Marathon is on at the end of the month. Crazy as the Czech Republic's Covid numbers are skyrocketing. I would not feel safe at that event.

I had a registration for that marathon and was really hoping to be able to go as I haven't really done any social dancing since March/April, but now I've just sent them a message requesting my registration to be moved to Spring 2021 instead. As much as I would love both to travel and dance again, it just wouldn't feel right to go there right now. Especially as their numbers seem to be increasing again...

El Sol is still on this year according to the organizer. SuperMario shares his experiences with Covid testing, quarantine and traveling around Europe despite all of the restrictions. Part of me feels like this is very optimistic. How many people are willing to get tested or go into quarantine just for El Sol?
