What makes people want to dance with YOU?

funny..I had one dance with V that really defines that! the song was like Ti mon bo so there were litle room for partnerwork, It would be awful to dance that song with someone that does not communicate with you. Instead , we stayed the whole song doing shines and playing with each other all the time!!!
You do shines?.......awesome!!

It has nothing to do with learning, so adding such a phrase would no better or worse validate any statement about wcs.

Wcs simply is.

No, salsa IS! and this is a salsa forum so..wcs is just like any other dance we discuss from times to times rs

back to topic, I never stopped to think why people like to dance with me but they do rs..but I guess its nothing related to my dance per se, but more related to the way I am.

Salsa was.

Salsa was.

really?I had some wcs dances with dancers like Jordan, Kiebasa, Ben , Arjay and although I did just two classes of wcs it was not hard for me to follow them! ALL of them asked me why I said I didnt dance wcs ( I told them I danced salsa) and they strongly advise to TRY , yeah, TRY wcs! Aparently they think I would be a very good follower!

My answer was : "the dance is awsome but I am not here just to dance. To do just the dance and feel happy I have samba and zouk, dances that would be easier for me to dance. I need to feel the song and salsa for me is all about feeling'

They ALL respect and understood my feelings with a big smile and a 'yeah, keep doing it"

So for me, salsa IS and I am glad these awsome pros from wcs can recognize others feelings:cool:

Mixing in hip hop into my shines or partnerwork if I can manage it. Also just being stupid whenever I break into a shine and act a fool.
Definitely smiling (and laughing).
I think one of the coolest compliments I've gotten was that the follow didn't feel any pressure to follow correctly because it was fun either way.
Also being Asian, I guess? One of the weirdest comments was that they didn't expect me to dance well because I'm not latino.

I try to make my dancing different from others, and put In moves they haven't seen before that I've learned from other styles to that beat, or fuse other styles into a song if appropriate, and knowing that the partner I have can follow my lead.
I've had lots of fun incorporating international samba into Salsa or Kizomba.
When I see a smile on their face, it must mean that they are enjoying themselves.
I constantly try to add something new from taking lessons or just viewing something on the internet and then practicing it until I am comfortable pulling it off.
You have to show confidence with your lead, regardless if you make a mistake, you have to be able to adopt and if you have to tone it down, to have the right timing and connection, that is more important, then how many moves you pull off if some of them are sloppy, sticking to what you know is the best option.

Friendly, relaxed and dancing for fun. If either myself or the partner makes mistakes, just laugh it off, continue dancing and try to correct it next time. If she repeats a basic mistake, e.g. common for beginners to lose timing after one turn, I would point it out with smile and high-five her when she does it correctly the next time. It often ends up with both of us laughing together. That's an important part of social dancing for me : relax and have fun together.

Good timing and rhythm, probably because I've played accordion since young age and later on guitar.

On the dance style, often I'm told that I have a different style to other social dancers. Probably because I mix salsa dancing with Cuban rumba, Afro-Cuban, funk dance moves, Pachanga and whatever I learned from classes or other sources : observing other dancers, videos etc. Those dances help my body movement a lot (after a lot of practice in front of mirror) and make dance more fun for me.

If the follow is good and has her own style, I don't mind her leading me in footwork or movement ( as long as it doesn't look too feminine). It's fun to have the roles reversed and try out different stuff. :D
