What I'm listening to right now...

I'm finally getting a little tired of listening to my favorite salsa songs over and over and over. I've been listening to some kizomba songs, and I think I might be hooked.

I also purchased the album Mister Cowboy, which includes Rex Allen's version of the Mexican favorite "Alla en el Rancho Grande," one of my favorite songs when I was a kid. (You'll recognize Rex Allen's voice if you're a Walt Disney fan; he was the narrator on many of his older movies, the nature films, at least.)

This is my discovery of a year, but I still have not figured out the song. Glad to hear you like it. :)

Yeah I love the song... Do you mean you dont understand what the lyrics are implying?
From what I understand Hector Lavoe is singing to Mark Dimond the pianist. He's telling him he should have been more careful .The cops are looking for him because of his drug use.

....... Listening to Willie Colon y Hector Lavoe - Quimbombo - Album EL Malo

writing down a few tracks for the next week show...

Jazz Guajira - Ray Barretto (unreleased track from his "Indestructible" album)

I really enjoyed the song, too. I agree that Héctor is talking to Mark, but my take on the song is that the police is looking for him because he's a "bolitero", a person that takes bets for an illegal lottery game called "El juego de la bolita" (In Puerto Rico). However, it's possible that my interpretation is too literal... Mr. Afinque, do you have additional info on the song's backstory. Thanks.

My mistake you are probably right. Hector does say "siempre andando con bolitas" . Which is probably referring to the illegal numbers game.

I reread the liner notes and I couldnt get much info on the song itself but I,m sure theres got to be some more info out there.

I like this treatment of a " classico " romantica style..

Charlie Cardonas'... La Mujer mi Vida

and... Carlos Guerrero.. Mi Tumbao

Bach - Partita No. 3

I just finally discovered who recorded my favorite version of the partitas, the one I've had on cassette for over twenty-five years: Christiane Jaccottet. (And I'm not remotely a big classical music fan, but this performance really kills me.)

Okay, a little off topic, but uh, Tiempo Libre recorded some Bach covers, so. . .
