This week in my dancing I'm working on...

Brownskin818, care to share......I'm feeling you on adding new stuff...holla at your boy....
HA! my new stuff is likely below your pay grade, but i'll send it to you. i have my old compilation on FB that ill give you access to. it has more lofty stuff that i never rose to. the new comp only has 4 or 5 moves and features a glaring watermark on it since i dont own the software im using. whatevs. will send...

oh, and im also working on air leading. ive tried this in the past and always gotten frustrated in 0.2 seconds. i knew a guy in LA who i was told air lead practiced ALL the time. i got a dance with him one day and was UBER impressed. he was FANTASTIC lead. whenever improver guys ask me for advice i now always tell them to try air leading at home. meanwhile, id never fully taken my own advice. so now i am and ive gotten past the frustration part.

Brownskin, i dont know about being below my pay grade, always looking to improve the franchise.....I havent done the air leading part, maybe i'll try..i do grab stuff from youtube, social and performance stuff and use VLC media player so i can slow it down in real time to fully decipher leads etc....and then add them piecemeal into my dancing.....my main focus not necessarily memorizing the whole pattern per se but acquiring different things that can flow together with different things....options as they say....

This week and the following weeks I'm going to work on my repertoire along with my usual practice regime. I've become aware during our saturday that on the one hand that for some moves my leading isn't yet as clear and precise so that the ladies end up where I'ld like them to be. And on the other hand I'm going to watch some congress and youtube clips for new moves, variations of known moves or new combinations to help me break out of some combinations that I've too much grown used to. It's not so much to keep the dance interesting for the ladies but rather be able to represent the music in my dancing as I perceive it.

I'm working on incorporating old school mambo shines into my dancing. I've been watching some cool clips of Mambo D, Jimmy Anton, and Tito Ortos doing some classic moves. Those guys have real saborrrr!

I feel like my steps in the cross-body lead are a bit mushy. Either I'm being led too late or I'm not picking up on the lead right away and I'm rushing through it to stay on time. Something to remain aware of as I work on the inside turn.
