You're not wrong, but the base is still white construction workers in Alabama driving F-150's. Also "old money" has always been Repub. Now new tech-bro money is too.
But I'll throw you a bone...apologies if I've posted this before but it's such a classic:
Bunch of back steppers I bet. Notice how hard they're trying to make this 'Merican salsa.
Also yes, Dems have been on an Identity Politics sugar high for the past 15+ years. Now they're paying the price. No Kings was good though, I was there along with millions of others. When the official White House Xitter page posts garbage like this then you will get a No Kings protest.
Yes I had meant identity politics. There was a typo in my post. Trump practices and grievances of majorities.
There are things that Trump does that at least half the Republican voters don’t agree with.
Democrats need to get their house in order.
- Bernie wing won’t win over majority of Americans nor majority of democrats.
- too much dependence on trade unions. The trade unions are becoming less pro-Democrats
- not enough outreach to young voters (below 30). At the start Harris campaign started making headway and then got lost.
- talk more about common sense issues. Stop highlighting issues like transgender participation in women sports.
- economic issues. Taxing the wealthy is such a beaten dead horse. Frankly the wealthy are already taxed enough. California is 4th largest economy by GDP in the world with 40 million people. Both Germany and Japan (3rd and 4th largest) have far more population than California. Yet they are able to offer better services. They also have to spend on defense which California doesn’t directly.
- if someone creates wealth from scratch the Democrats make it appear like that’s a sin.
- democrats definitely don’t know how to talk about immigration.
A simple example. The current big beautiful bill is proposing cuts to Medicaid (healthcare). In response one of Republican senators said “we are all going to die” as while defending the bill. I remember when The Obama was president trying to pass the Obamacare. Which instead of being modeled on what democrats position, it was modeled on Heritage foundation (right wing think tank) recommendations and Romney’s model in MA. Yet Republicans went screaming “death panels” in town halls around the country. It was bill about expanding health care access and had things that were very popular (like pre-condition support). And Democrats couldn’t message it. Instead we got tea party.
Democrats can’t generate outrage on popular things. Instead they try to generate outrage on things that most people can’t relate to as strongly (via identity politics).
