So, what other music do you like?

It's funny we have a page for non-salsa-related stuff but no one ever asks this question. So, what other music do you like? Are you (like me) into all things Latin (merengue, cha-cha, reggaetón, etc), or are you kinda into everything? :)

hiphop...

more of the underground stuff.. Atmosphere, JMT, Army of the Pharaohs, Cunninlynguists, Swollen members, that kind of stuff...

Wait.... there is other music???? ;)

But, I like almost any kind of music. If I look at my collection it runs from Classical to Rock, from Celtic to Hip-hop and has basically almost everything in between. That said, I do seem to have a slight preference for R&B and plain old pop

The most popular music in Jamaica is country, bizarrely enough.

Reggae(all its forms, dancehall, lovers rock, ska etc), soca, calypso, hip hop, R&B, and a little bit of everything else....

You know the connection between mambo (the music) and (original) ska?

Well some country too....ESP since country is similar in some respects to reggae, say a my dad.... Also some Charles aznavour, some Jimmy buffet(margaritaville, why don't we get drunk....and screw) and various others like evanescence! Old school quiet riot, fleetwood Mac......I just love music lol

Here is another thread with the same question:
http://www.salsaforums.com/showthread.php?t=709

My answer these days:
Live concerts in Jazz*, West African, South African music. *In Jazz I like some classics and a lot of modern eclectic but I do not have any recordings I only like live concerts.

Listening to recordings of West African, Middle Eastern, Bulgarian/Romanian/Serbian* music. I am a huge fan of *Boban Markovic Orkester.

When I am driving my car I am listening on the radio to the local Jazz station Jazz88.5FM, to the local non-commercial alternative rock station 89.3FM The Current and the local Classical station 99.5FM.

It seems I like everything that has syncopation (except for the Classical and I only listen to that when I am stressed out already).

Huh ? Are you referring to the constant base boom of dancehall on every street corner as "country" ?

No I'm referring to c&w imported from the US. To be fair, it was the most popular music back in the day, perhaps not so much now. On numerous occasions I have met someone from JA or another Caribbean island, or of Afro Caribbean ancestry, who has either been into country or, more commonly, told me that country was all their parents listened to when they were growing up.

I'm pretty sure that most weird answer is mine :P

I love house and trance and can listen to this kind of music non-stop. I also love some rock, mostly British and Punk, and some Metal as well.
