Seattle Salsa Congress 2014 Roll Call

With less than 2 weeks to go to the festivities just a quick note to find out who, from SF will be here for the Congress. So far we have the following definite: (Depending on the number of out of town SFers we might be able to organize a SF dinner):

Salsa student? Sabrosura? Offbeat?, Snow dancer? Groovy Mambo? Any other SF member who is normally too shy to post but is attending anyway?
 
I'm not going to make it this year, I will be working on my Master's in Public Health applications till December. After that I will head to Romania and then on a 5 month trip through Latin America and beyond, so I will say a temporary goodbye to all my US SFers! I'll be back in the fall to begin my Master's (location TBD until the admission decisions are sent out in March-April).
 
We will certainly miss you this year!! Good luck with your travels and future plans!!! keep us up to date on the various salsa scenes especially the Romanian one , also Cali and Cuba!!
Ps. Is there something in the Romanian water that keeps producing all these dancers with sabor?
 
So I see that Maykel Fonts has been replaced by Frankie Martinez on the website. Visa issues? I was looking forward to taking his workshops. Oh well, I'll check out FM. Hope they post the workshop schedule soon so I can plan the rest of my time in Seattle.
 
Hi, I just found out too, I was also looking forward to seeing Maykel. Hope the organizer posts the schedule soon. It looks like it will be Me (Mambo_CEC), Lidiap,Snow dancer and Salsa Student attending this year. When are you coming in?, If you are here on Wednesday, we can meet at the "Pre-Party" at BDS. I will send you a PM , with our FB info, so you can recognise us. Have a safe trip and we look forward to seeing you!

Thank you! I think this will be a great trip. I get in around noon on Thursday so ill miss out on the weds night pre-party.
 
I booked my trip today. The website didn't say anything about Thursday. I arrive on Friday afternoon. Haven't checked the rates yet but I think I will probably sign up for the night pass only.

I happen to dance with three followers from Seattle. Two salsa dances and one Kizomba. One of the salsa dancers was really good!

P.S. - Checked the prices. The night tickets are more expensive than SF congress. How long does the dancing go on? May be I will buy a Kizomba workshop since there is not much price difference between the night pass and the workshop pass.

Man, wish I could go to one of these. They seem so fun. Is the Seattle one always at Thanksgiving? Maybe next year.

As an aside, are there ever SalsaForums meetup trips? Where the focus is other SF ppl, tho of course in a salsa venue? Or do things work best as chance meetings?

Anyway, yall have fun. I will try not to think about what I may be missing. :)

The Seattle congress is always on Thanksgiving and I think the SF congress is always the weekend before, they'd probably make nice bookends to a short West Coast vacation.

BTW, enough out of towners come to the Seattle congress (including a bunch of follows from Vancouver) that the usual caveats to leads don't apply.

I just made a last minute decision to go to the Seattle congress. Bought a full pass, as the workshops look really interesting. See you guys around!
