Salsa music you do not like! Aka true confessions

No clue what those are but I'll take your word for it that I don't like them hahaha

Both Jazz legends who dabbled in latin song arrangements with some memorable recordings.
George Shearing was a blind pianist, The "Dutchman " is Cal Tjader.. he was actually born in the mid west of dutch heritage

Never heard the Dutchman moniker, his heritage is actually Swedish. Regardless, a great jazz musician, who more than dabbled in Latin, that's what he's known for. And his vibraphone, lol!

Milk and honey to a mambo dancer's ears, for me this was a masterclass in playing latin jazz, what a beautiful song...clave sticks..reverse clave (3:2,2:3)..congas..VIBRAPHONE...oh man, that electiric gituar, still it's not everyone's cup of chai...what more can I say......Quick let me get on the elevator!!! LOL

Best elevator ever!

If you're talking about the famous Latin jazz musician, it's Cal Tjader, and he's American. Don't know who Carl might be.

I can't keep it a secret any longer. I don't like:

La Excelencia - 1st 2 albums. I bought them, I can listen to them, I can dance to certain tracks, and I'm sure the band are brilliant live. But I don't listen to either albums and I don't use either of them for DJing purposes. I wish I'd saved my money.

Sonido Bestial - sorry, it just doesn't do anything for me.

Am I ill?
Oh if you are talking about my Richie Ray, I'm so hurt! o_O

It was so bad, I new she could do a whole lot better. She did but please leave the English out of it.

I missed this question..."El mentiroso con cara tierno, tú lo conoces se llama Juan Guillermo!"

estrella posted a link to Bill's review of his first CD, which was produced by great timbero Juan Manuel Ceruto. JG has an interesting story. His father, Juan Almeida Bosque, was one of the main leaders of the revolution and also a composer :)

JG studied law and got his degree in 2009 I believe but also was part of Gente D'Zona in the early days and the started his own group which tends more towards modern latin/salsa/timba/timbaton. I actually quite like his music even if it's not my usual cup pf tea. It's fun and happy and great party music.

Here is a song from his latest album with the lyrics written by his father. Starts out romantica but switches to timba.

Here's another one I like - yes sappy but I like it and the guitar works for me "Hota Hey" ;)

I like this song from JG togeher with Alexander Abreu:
Belleza Latina - JG / Alexander Abreu
Better party music cannot be found :-)

The only music i really do not like on Salsa Parties is Kizomba \ Semba. I like the music and some songs are very very good but NOT on a Salsa Party. Here in Europe it is taking over the Salsa Scene. Me and my partner created a party (SalSabados) without Kizomba, and the old school Salsa lovers are very pleased with it.

I only go where they don't play Kizomba or if they do they have a separate room for it. I would also prefer if they moved the bachata to the kiz room.

You think so okay but she can do so much more with that voice and good writing. Sergio George did that with her in a few CD's.

I'm not a fan of her salsa. I liked her house music.
I am also not a fan of (aka won't dance to):
Sonida Bestial
Okairi Okairi (both versions)
Chan chan (salsa version)
Love song (Salsa version)
Bailando
En Baranquilla mi qedo

And I never thought I'd hate anything by this band (let alone hate it more than almost all others)...
but Gran Combo''s cover of Achilipú.
I didn't even know there were 2 other versions. The version after this is funky gypsy rock (actually pretty bad@$$).

But the original looks like an SCTV skit with Andrea Martin...
