Great song and recording!

Llorando Me Dormí - Cortijo y su Combo singing Ismael Rivera. That one was requested by a friend last weekend. I only need to play that song when people try to convince me that Cortijo just kept his earlier music on Bomba & Plena.

This song is a quite progressive original bossa nova from Bobby Capó (same composer of "El Negro Bembón").

Add the fact it was recorded in 1961!

I have the CD on order. Looks like a nice mix with a couple boleros in there, including the classic "En Mi Viejo San Juan".

Arrived today. Sounds wonderful. Much cleaner recording than anticipated.

No personnel / arranger / composer credits at all in the packaging, but, I have the music and that is the main thing. I'd like to know who did the arrangement of "Mi Viejo San Juan".

I always marvel at these older recordings where everyone was in the same room at the same time. No click track. And if that lead trumpet players misses one note -- everyone has to do another take. That's pressure.

Marvelous music.

Hoping to tune into Salsa De La Mata tonight!

Sound quality in most Rumba releases are pretty good considering the original media. As most releases of Latin and smaller labels from the 50's and 60's, the original LP's has little or no credits related with musicians and arrangers. Even the name of the composers in some titles are abbreviated or missing.

Earlier sound engineers made wonders with their monaural equipment. They knew where to place musicians to take advantage of their instrument acoustic attributes. Bands usually rehearsed a lot of days before a recording session.

hope you can enjoy our show today...

Great show! I was listening the whole time.

As I said, really nice mix from Freddy... and that live Ponceña with Isaac Delgado really surprised me - I had no idea they played together at the Dia Nacional de Salsa 2012. And hey, liked the Maña :-)

Thanks for enjoying the show live!...

Issac with La Ponceña was this year's surprise at DNS 2012. He seemed a little bit lost at the beginning but the Sonora singers guided him on its way. Before the first moña, he was already on it's own path! Nice experience and quite a change from what we see everyday.

Papo has some experience playing in Cuba and contacts with Cuban musicians since the Havana Jam in 1979. One of the last Fania releases (#699 - Year 1997) was a CD recorded with Alfredo de la Fe and Sexteto Típica de Cuba (art cover below).

Thanks again!
