Rueda Corner

For your rueda group, how many of you are the actual "caller". How many moves come to mind once you get started? Do you find it difficult and rather have someone else do it?

There is only 1 caller in a single couple. i keep my mind clear, and when I recognize it I do it, yeah... it gets difficult in the really really fast songs like the ones I danced yesterday :)

I think Dedo has to be one of my favorites. The coolest thing about that is it's a prelude to hand flicks. When the lead's brings the follow's hand down, instead of carrying it back up, he can just flick the follows hand up. Pretty cool.

Yup me! I love it and get very despondant if i don't get my weekly Rueda fix. In fact I'm trying a new club night tonight that's being run / taught by the guy that normally calls our Rueda just to see if I can get my Rueda happy a few days early.

I have tried calling Rueda before now and I found my mind kept going blank - but I guess it gets easier with practice just like anything else.

I tried Rueda Casino for the first time on my night out with Prae on thursday (I did the introduction to- class) and I have to say Its brill. Its like doing the electric slide at a wedding-tons of fun. Obviously not something you can do all night but definately a floor filler. Im absolutely up for more!

Yeah, now that I have gotten better at following, I would love to just jump right into a Rueda group, especially now. I remember when I first started, I used to love moves like Montana, Beso, Condado, Sombero.....

went to a new place last night. went early thinking i'd do the improver class as a boy before the intermediate / advanced one..however there weren't any improver dancers there so ended up with a 2 hour class. second part of which was Rueda as hoped. it was excellent. Learnt about 4 new moves and then danced about 3 ruedas after the class. One with just my friends calling the moves ourselves. I have a little rueda happy feeling about me this morning.

I like Rueda, there isn't a regular class to go to where I am, but we've had Moe Flex as a guest teacher a few times. His lessons are fantastic even when we made mistakes he'd just make us laugh and I don't think he has an un-enthusiastic bone in his body! So my experience of Rueda has had a really positive beginning :D
