Hi , what is status of dancing in your place now ?

Hi all , how are you all ? What is status of dancing in your place now and the interim period ( a few months back ) . how is covid situation . ? I am in a region of india . Though cases overall in india came down in my region cases still high so no dancing at all . The salsa scene was very limited even before pandemic in my region and i used to compensate by travelling to other regions in india . Waiting for things to settle but learnt spanish and portuguese during 2020 and 2021 so can understand the beautiful songs including kizomba to " some extent " :) Seeing salsa videos also so that i am not surprised by this dance when i see it after 2 years from last march

Great that you learned some new language skills. I would suggest you keep honing your skills and not worry about social dancing. Even if social dancing is available for me, I only go to the good parties or to the parties where I know good dancers are going to be. Otherwise I'd rather be at home working on my own skills.

I am resigned to not being able to dance for a two year period :( Originally I was planning to start looking for socials when I was vaccinated, but even when limited opportunities cropped up, not enough people were vaccinated and it still seemed risky, as well as very restricted in numbers and so forth. Now we are back in lockdown, including curfew. I don't think I'll even be able to take my school team on cycling camp this year. Right now I'm so busy I can't put my mind to alternatives - as well as working full time from home I'm doing International Baccalaureate courses (currently doing the accreditation to teach Spanish; ¡es mucho trabajo!), writing textbooks and presenting at (virtual) conferences. Last Saturday night I was working through the course activities (I had to put together a listening task, so I used a clip talking about salsa, and made questions about where salsa came from and the instruments used to play it :) ) and I started putting on salsa songs to listen to. However, not my favorite songs, but the songs, both good and not so good, that are routinely played at socials I used to go to. It helped me with the withdrawal syndrome somewhat!

I'm hoping that once the vaccination supply and levels increase here the situation will start returning to normal and I may be able to start dancing again. However, for me it's more about the opportunity to travel, as the scene isn't the best here. There are some very good dancers, but the general attitude and clique culture is unpleasant, the scene is smallish and above all the DJs aren't great. A week away in Sydney or Tokyo used to give me my hit :) If time opens up for me next year I'll try to do some online courses/videos/find a way to improve in isolation. Surely dancing will start again next year! Once Australasia starts to open up its borders again I plan to take time off and do some hard core salsa travelling! I've never been the best dancer (never had the time to put into it) but still miss it terribly :)

I was looking on YT last night and saw several socials (not sure where) which seemed very crowded without any maskers whereby the event(s) apparently happened in the last few days....

A lot of people go dancing but what I noticed is that back in April-June there were always the same people going, now there seem to be more newcomers.

I'm in Sydney and I haven't danced in just over 18 months. We've had restrictions and lockdowns on and off since March last year and usually opening dance floors is the last restriction to go. Despite missing it, I'm not in a mad rush to go back given the current situation. I've been watching salsa videos less during my extended break and I'm not one to practise at home, so I'm interested to see how rusty I've become once I get the chance to hit the dance floor. :D

South Florida (Miami-Dade and Broward County) The old venues went bankrupt. The new places are running normal. Most recent startup is at a gambling casino in Dania Beach 15 min from home. Great idea. They make their money on the gamblers and don't really care about how many people buy a drink at the bar.

I am happy to live close to Switzerland where everything is back normal. Just check in with your vaccination code or your test at the door and here we go. Inside everything feels like before corona, and I completely forget about it. After three months or so like this followers also seem to have recovered from not dancing before. For me it's more fun than ever before.

Here in Finland official salsa parties are back, really have been for months. It seems that we have lost quite many dancers, but show goes on. Currently we have no restrictions which would affect social dancing.

ball & chain still open?

The closest big city to me has opened at 50% capacity for dancing. But some venues are turning a blind eye to vax and some peeps are getting forgeries

Same here in Norway. No tests to enter. But vaccination rates in the Nordics are probably 90%+ in the adult population in all of the countries (not entirely sure about the others but for sure very high).

Haven't danced at all during covid and not sure how afflicted I still am by the dancing bug, but will start going to socials again and go from there.

Edit: I expect another wave here, even with high vaccination rates, given experiences in Israel. Social dancing will probably - again - be among the first casualties I suspect :(

I'm in the DC area but haven't been dancing in almost 2 years. From what I understand, it's a mixed bag. Some of the bigger socials are vaccination required, some are not, etc.

thanks. They did at some point - that’s why I asked
It turns out Ball & Chain is next door to the venue named Cubaocho that features salsa / bachata nights on Wed and Sun. I walked past B&C last night. It was closed and looked very empty as in furniture and bar equipment missing. I am guessing it is out of business. Cubaocho which is 2 buildings down the street is active.

Israel is back to normal, and has been for a month and a half, we didn't even have a lockdown or cancellation of dance parties (just checking our equivalent of the euadcc pass)
The boosters were very helpful.
