Favourite cha cha cha songs?

I agree, from a musician standpoint. I love to play with bands that incorporate a cha or guajira into the set. It's a nice break from the uptempo Salsa numbers. Sammy Gonzalez Jr. does it -- we play a cover of Palmieri's "Cafe" on each gig, actually.
That's nice, exactly what I mean.
Another one I'm missing is the boleros. A good bolero (at least 2) in a night will do just fine to change the pace. I dont see that here.

No cha cha cha play Emoyeno as people don't know how to cha cha cha. I will happily play many cha cha chas if people will dance to it. I usually play at least one a night, and depending on the crowd more. Not in NY/NJ area though as I am in Ithaca, NY. Just this past Tuesday played two cha cha chas.

Perhaps you should start teaching cha cha cha to people?;)
I'm not there yet, though cha cha is easier than Salsa, dont know why people find it so hard. People are just afraid of dancing a good cha cha because they know very little about it. So what, I learned it!! LOL

I'm just missing the real Salsa nights from PR.

I just like the variety, the change in pace. It helps to take a breather from all the salsa.

Don't think anyone has mentioned "Chanchullo" by Ruben Gonzales, "Come and Get It" by Ralph Robles, "Pa' Huele" by Eddie Palmieri, and "Al Despertar" by Freddy Fender yet.

And at our social there's at least 6-7 songs that I play which you can dance cha cha to throughout the night, whether they're cha cha, boogaloo, son montuno, guajira. Cha Cha is such an amazing dance, its a tragedy if I go out and only dance ONE cha cha.

Me too - I mentioned this on another thread a while ago. What do we have on the salsa scene instead of bolero, son, guajira and cumbia? The dreaded k word.

So bolero still gets played (in small quantities I presume) in the salsa clubs in PR?

Trying to get a partner to do Son timing when they learned new York Style salsa doesn't seem easy to me. Especially when they don't know what son is and tell you you're dancing on2 wrong.
