Zürich 2012 Roll Call - who's in?

Now that I realized I'll have to miss out on some serious fun (Milano On2 congress, some of the parties in Amsterdam) due to my Zürich commitment I thought I should at least “advertize“ the corpus delicti a little to make sure I get to see as many of you as possible there! So what do we have? A well-respected festival in the middle of Europe with superb organization (or so I heard) and an impressive line-up. On top of that a whole bunch of NY people, I guess (=hope), due to Yamulee bringing along their Bajari team as well. So yay for that! Something for guys and girls to look forward to! Oddly enough I never made it to this festival so far, so this is a premier for me and I am terribly excited already! :D
I am gonna be there from Friday to Monday, how about everybody else? Who's going? :bouncy:

The congress was nice, but there was no "superb" organization. Lines for checking in were terrible, the shows lasted for ever, after party music was good, but the nights were so and so. And I also personally know of a lot of followers who were complaining about how follower heavy the scene is and the lack of good leaders (I didn't see it though, I was dancing non-stop Saturday and Sunday)... So no, no more Zurich for me.
Also at this time of the year, Zurich is not the awesomest city.

Grrrrr.... somebody like spoiling the fun, huh?
I am surprised to hear this because this was (so far) one of the very few congresses where I haven't heard any negativity at all (except for the city being so darn expensive). Maybe I should have read the entire thread about last year before making my decision  Especially since I'm all hyped up about Milan now (which I probably not gonna make now with Zürich happening less than a month before it)... But anyway, I decided I'd have fun in Zürich so I'll try to stick to the original plan! :D
And there's one thing I love the organizers already in advance for: I realized yesterday while looking at their website that they call their Salsa Romantica floor (“beginner salsa“). Isn't that priceless?

Possibly caused by the attitude of the followers in 2010 which convinced a number of London leaders to avoid this event in 2011.

Well, they put on by far the best after-parties I've seen at any congress, I can give them that. Far better than the main parties, so make sure you don't miss them! And Zurich is magical with a covering of snow (it was snowy the first time I went there) so pray for a cold spell ;)

Lolita's right about the loooooong queue though (I've been to this event twice and it was the same both times), so if possible register as soon as you arrive in the city, don't wait till the party starts.

Thanks for the valuable information! You are gonna be there though, won't you, Mac?
I am still struggling with finding a nice affordable apartment for three or four people close by  Guess that's gonna be a hard one in Zürich - the "affordable" part, at least.
I'll pray then there is some way to get your pass in advance. Then again, I normally arrive really late at the parties - so maybe all the people will be sitting inside watching the shows already :)

So, any recommendations for a cheap hotel other than Ibis and Etap? (probably not but I have to try anyway...)

I think I've actually solved the problem (thanks, desconosida :)). It looks that I'm going. Yeah after I swore I would never spend so much money to go there... I guess it's still better than staying at home and dancing by myself :P

Much, much, MUCH better, I hope! Especially with me missing out on Amsterdam now... :)
