Workshop schedule - Brit Salsafest

Jambo

Changui
It's here (well partly), not that I've been checking every minute of every day for the past week ;)

Ooooh, I'm practically giddy

Good stuff! I'm gonna hang out at most of the on2 workshops so if you guys are into that I bet we will run into each other quite a lot :)

I think I'll be doing a mixture of on2, on1, styling and "other dances". Hope I'll catch you at some of the on2 workshops (and at parties :D -- save me a dance!).

Most certainly will, whether u will regret it or not. And after the nominations that we got Mac, it looks like you will have to come to Zurich with me too in order to keep the flag up! ;)

Well, I hoping to do at least a couple of on2 workshops, not that our paths will cross though, I've only just started learning (2nd class tonight) so will be sticking to the beginner's level for on2. I'm hoping to mix it up a bit (as long as I don't get confused ;)) and do a bit of everything, leading, following, on1, on2, cuban ect (the level for each will vary).

I'm also looking forward to the Milonga :D

What? There's gonna be some tango possibilites too?! I would really want to learn argentine tango, gonna try to squeeze in some classes later this spring :)

Any lead in here who are fluent in both salsa and tango btw? How do the tango knowledge affect your salsa? The lead in tango looks like a real precision job compared to the seemingly rude arm throwing of salsa. Hey, almost a topic :)

I can only see one tango workshop 'intro to tango' but it's followed by a Milonga, if you get bitten by the bug in the workshop, stay for the milonga after. Joel (who is taking the class) is my Tango teacher and he's passionate about it, I'm certain during the milonga he will be there to help, give further tuition or just chat about AT.

:D

Oh, found it, all the nice salsa made me blind :)

I would really like to try the threesome with Super Mario, have to be a great laugh! You guys reccon I have to pick up two follows by myself before the class? If so, any volunteers? :)

I'm not a lead, but some of the most popular leaders in our scene are also regulars at local milongas (I found that out when I tried tango a couple of years ago -- then I dropped out). In tango, you use your torso to lead and don't use arms much, but torso lead techniques are probably also useful in salsa to an extent.

I think there is an old tango thread here somewhere...

Does that mean you'll be going to encuentro latino's class? They're my regular teachers!

I think so......Is that Lossie and Gareth? Yes, I'll probably end up in one of their classes, there's also a Lee and Shelly and a Michael and Maxine, I've never done any of their classes but I'm sure they are all fantastic :) Would you recommend Lossie and Gareth as my first choice Sweavo?

Definitely recommend them, they are the best teachers I have ever had with regard to focusing on technique and explaining clearly. I've not been to anyone else's classes out of those except one taught by Shelly in London, which was on 1...

With the way you look i don't think you'll find it a problem ;)

Actually what happened last year is that girls kind of got into 2's and stayed together and the guys rotated from couple to couple. It was a really fun class.

I have just downloaded the timetable. I have no idea what i'll be doing yet. I'm very excited though. Def Lee and Shelleys on2 improvers. maybe i'll finally try reggaeton. Cuban salsa with Osbanis clashes with cha cha cha...I'm going to have to make some hard decisions I can tell!

Thanks Sweavo, that's good enough for me, I would certainly benefit from some help with my technique and I do tend to absorb more if it's explained clearly. I'm looking forward to it :D

Same here!! Quite a few 'clashes' so I'll be tossing a coin a lot over the weekend but I'm hoping the schedule doesn't change too much (I remember it did last year) it's looking pretty good to me :D
