Which Salsa Congresses Or Major Events Do You Plan To Attend in 2015?

New list for the new year :) What are your dance event plans for the new year?

My current plans: this will be a HUGE travel year for me, I have just left New York for 6 months of traveling before I go back to the US to begin grad school (Master of Public Health). I am currently in Romania for about a month.

January ~10: visit olamalam in Istanbul for a weekend of dancing there (my first time in Turkey)
January 14-16: Magic Salsa Festival in Ljubljana
January 22-25: Romania National Salsa Congress in Brasov, my hometown :)
January 30-~February 4: Paris
February 5-6: Scottish Salsa Fest in Edinburgh
February 7-8: Amsterdam Salsa Festival (yep I want to do both in the same weekend :))

February-July: Here goes..! Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Japan, South Korea, Thailand :) :) :)

That's a big planning!
Mine so far is a wee bit more modest. I've only been dancing for nine months so far, so I'm not going overboard.

14-17 May: Limburg Salsa Festival. A local festival/congress in my home town. It's a five-minute drive from where I live. Workshops, parties, performances. Pretty much a congress, they even have a load of international artists and teachers. Just no gigantic names.
2-4 October: Berlin Salsa Congress. A friend won her ticket and was allowed to spam 50% discount codes to friends. So I thought 'why not' and got a full pass. Big congress, big names, the whole shabang. Even though I'll have more than doubled my dancing experience by then, I'm still slightly intimidated by this one :)

This next year i really want to go to puerto rico salsa open

Also my locals congress that i dont miss

So far, just:

January: Romanian National Salsa Congress
April: Rose City Salsa Festival
November: Seattle Salsa Congress

I'm looking for something different... maybe a bachata festival. Would especially like to go to the DR.

February 5-6: Scottish Salsa Fest in Edinburgh
February 7-8: Amsterdam Salsa Festival (yep I want to do both in the same weekend :))
Perfectly doable, with only a 1-hour flight between the two cities, but you are missing the kilt night? Shame  I'm not doing Amsterdam Fest this year, but see you in Edinburgh :)

31/Jan - 1/Feb: Stars of Salsa
6-8/Feb: Scottish Salsa Congress
1-3/May: Mambocity 5 Star Salsa Congress
30/Oct-1/Nov: Amsterdam Salsa Congress

It would be really nice if I could also fit NY congress in... I'm open to suggestions for the second half of the year esp. if there's any good opportunity for a big reunion :)

I guess noone noticed this one yet:

Otherwise everyone would put this on the list. Great city, no shows, no workshops. food and water is included in price! what else would a social dancer expected?
That event has already been discussed here... http://salsaforums.com/threads/salsa-promoter-fight.24900/

The timing this year doesn't work for me as I'd be really busy then, but the concept is certainly interesting. My main concern is the cap on the number - a weekend of wall-to-wall social dancing with only 222 dancers sounds tiny. I'm not sure what the atmosphere would be like. I'm waiting for someone to go and report back... are you going?

Going to my home Congress, CISC Feb 12th to 15th.
Really wanted to go back to Warsaw this year in Nov, but my sister is getting married that weekend, so a no go. Also considered the Prague Marathon, but I am going to a wedding in Costa Rica that weekend!

Also taking suggestions for the second half of the year....
Maybe NYC? (i always have a good time, in contrast to what I've heard from others in recent years)
Maybe Berlin? (it's right before my birthday)
Maybe Cape Town? (haven't traveled to Africa before!)

Stars of Salsa
Mambo Nights B-day
Tallinn Salsa Festival
Prague Salsa Marathon
Vilnius Salsa Festival
Riga Salsa Festival
Warsaw Salsa Festival

I would like to go to Šibenik, but not sure about company and flights
I would love to go to Rostov, but not sure the are making it this year
Also Ukraine is on the list. Odessa, Kyiv. And Russia too. St. Pete's. Need to make visa and then just jump on the plane I guess.

funny cause I was thinking about those three! NYC - A week before the congress since I will have to leave on friday sept4th. Berlin sounds like a huge congress and I need to know if its like the Switz festival ( it was a fight for guys there, too many followers and I dont have that mood rs)
Cape town is one of those cities that one need to know and why not during a salsa congress ;)

I am going to skip our carnival and visiting Chile next month. The dates are the same of their congress so I will check it out!

I am open to suggestions in Europe for the first semester, between april 15 and june cause I cant travel before that. and I really wanna do a Mexico one - one friend of mine told me I would love it since they are really into social dancing (and they have an all inclusive congress kkkk)

Try the Nayarit (Mexican Riviera) one the Salsa Mambo Fest 2015 April 26-29. It's all inclusive, great line up (at least last year),chill atmosphere, lots of On2 dancers, you get a congress and vacation rolled into one. Is there a carnival in Forteleza? As for Europenan ones in the time frame you mentioned, quite a few people have mentioned that the Mambo City one in the UK is quite good.

did you go to Nayarit last year? I had to give up :(
there's no carnival here, not the way I like but you can go to the beaches nearby and have a little fun ( we have the most beautiful beaches like Jericoacoara and Canoa near my city) . The major carnival here in Brazil happens in three cities : Rio, Salvador and Olinda/Recife, Salvador being my favorite and for me the most expensive one so I decided to skip it. Going to chile drink some wine and dance some salsa, not sure how this combination is gonna be kkkkkkkkkkkkk
