Which hand?

This is probably a stupid question but...when being asked to dance, with which hand should a lady accept? Most of the guys in my classes offer with their left. Should I take it with my right since that's where it will end up once we start..Or it right to right like a handshake? Thanks!

as far as my knowledge can reach , in an earlier dance etiquette class, we were tought that it is a must that the man ask the lady to dance offering his left hand, and accordingly, the lady has to place her right hand on his, this is where the normal dance position starts.

another teacher said that it would be okay too if the man offered his two hands, and the lady places both of her hands on his.. but i myself dont like this one..i dunno i feel its kindda.uhmmmm i dunno!!!

Gentleman should offer left hand and lady should accept with left hand also. This way he can lead her onto the dance floor with his left hand (walking on he left side in parallel position) and protect her back with his right arm.

I'm going to completely disagree and say there is no protocol. If I offer with my left, it's because that hand is closer. I'm happy to offer with my right if that hand is closer. I'd expect the lady to accept with which ever hand is closer. But, so what if she doesn't !

But I do like to take the lady's hand rather an elbow as I often throw my partner's hand straight into a spin
