What's your favorite salsa dancing outfit?

For me, I have this cute black halter dress that is tight on top and swingy on the bottom. I also like dancing in fitted black pants and tank tops. Jeans are too uncomfortable, and I have yet to find a suitable skirt.

What are your thoughts on females wearing crop tops?
Too slutty?
Hot? ;)
Or too slippery (the girl's waist getting sweaty) ? :(

If any of you guys are wearing crop tops, I don't want to hear about it!

Crop tops - depends on whether you have a toned stomach or a spare tyre. I don't hold my partner's waist much so that part can be bare without causing a problem. Backless tops can get a little slippery but that's not too much of an issue (and they look good). What is a problem is when both of you have sweaty hands and your fingers slip away from each other in the middle of moves.

I should have clarified! Crop or backless tops on anyone with a spare tire/back "boobs" should be avoided.

Where did you get that photo!! I'll have you know I'd lost 2lbs that week!

In my defence, I have water retention (or is it cream cake retention - I forget).

I swear by the salsa T-shirt and fitted black pants
I prefer form fitting tops, bus usually with short sleeves, as I tend to perspire when it gets hot and most guys dislike getting their hands wet from girl's perspiration.
For special occasions, I love short, "swingy" skirts.
Agreed on the jeans issue. Too hot, not enough range of motion.

As for crop tops, even though my husband keeps telling me that I have the figure to wear them, everybody in Montreal dance clubs knows that if you look like a ****, men will treat you as one, even if you are not!

But if you look like Shakira you can wear anything:

WOW!! what is she wearing? Mazola?

A typical guy's wet dream. Welcome to photoshop.

I have met Shakira. She is amazingly beautiful, charming and I love her music. But she looks nothing like that picture.

Yeah, the "candid" photos of her in the street look very different. But I still reckon she can wear anything. Sometimes I think that these "photoshop" effects tend to homogenise the pictures. I've seen photos of Beyonce where I thought it was Shakira with a darker tan.

If I'm ever lucky enough to meet her I'll be able to decide for myself...

I don't look like a salsa dancer :D I usually have some jeans\pants on, some tank-top or a military shirt, well, sometimes even some r'n'b style, cause when they play reggaeton in clubs, I feel myself comfortable in that kind of clothes, and not comfortable in skirts+heels and stuff. Cause everytime I go to a salsa club, I'm preparing to dance not only salsa, but also reggaeton. YO :kissme: REGGAETON

Whatever I feel like wearing or that looks good on me at the moment works for me. Jeans, skirts, dresses, pants. Never strapless tops or open backs. I sweat.

Indeed the only thing I always considder with clothes is
- if it still fits after 3 spins
- does it not show too much that I'm sweating

Personally, I think crop tops are a bit tasteless, even when the middle is sweet. And if there's some kinda pin sticking out of her navel, or one of those boring bird or butterfly tattoos, or a tattoo or mutilation of any description, then so much the worse!

I like my followers to look feminine. Halter tops are fine. Swingy skirts of medium length are lovely and add to the movement.

But these are all secondary considerations. If she can dance and is dressed with dancing in mind, that's fine.

All the same I confess that a lady with lovely shoulders exposed is a turn on. And if her top is silk or velvet, well ... mmmmmmmm!

OK ladies - what do you want to see / don't want to see in your lead's attire?

Tank tops for me. Jeans in the winter (lighter-weave denim is better), shorts or a loose-skirted dress in the summer. I have one salsa tee shirt I wear because the slogan is really funny but in general I feel cooler with my shoulders bare.

Guys: I do not care what they are wearing. Not even a little tiny bit. I hope they don't care what I'm wearing either as I'm not planning to change it anytime soon. ;)

I don't much care what the lead is wearing, as long as he is respectful :)

hmmm...one lady who has exposed spare tires etc when belly dancing...pretty close to Andrew's photos...oh I just stay away from her now even at salsa! NIghtmares! ONly person I have consistently stayed away from, so now you know. If you wnat me to stay away or want me to be there...you know. ;-)

I love followers that wear skirts that respond to spinning. Other than that I don't really look at attire. MY favourite outfit is my baggy black slacks and a purple t-shirt. Oh, yes..the famous flip-flops and indispensible ear plugs.

My style is more casual. A pair of jeans, anything bare back usually halter tops (safe & cooling) and sometimes a hat.
Although jeans is a lil hot but comfy, same goes for the hat.. it's hot and sweaty in my head but keeps my hair in place ( cuz my hair is neither long or short) I agree that skirts are the most cooling piece of clothing to salsa with. Don't know why i seldom wear them

my white shoes are standard! :) i then work my other stuff around my shoes...usually its a red/white pant and a tshirt :) and Oh....i ALWAYS wear my "superman" wrist band when im doin salsa.......was given to me by my special friend in london
