Hi Balletblueyes.

I tend to lean towards some of the older, classic, and/or old school maestro type stuff but I'll try to list some variety CDs I think you may like as an introduction to Salsa:
Heavy Salsa by Sonora Carruseles (Depending on where you live and clubs in your area, you will probably hear this alot in the clubs)
Un Gran Dia En El Barrio by Spanish Harlem Orchestra
Saboreando Salsa Dur En El Bronx by Wayne Gorbea & Salsa Picante
On Fire by Orquesta La Palabra
Back to the Future by Willie Rosario
Africando, Vol. 2: Tierra Tradicional by Africando
Some good compilation CDs
Salsa Fresca! Dance Hits of the '90s by Various Artists
Old School Salsa Classics 3 (Dig) by Various Artists
Old School Orig Salsa Classics 2 / Var (Dig)
The following is definitely worth a listen (one of my favorite compilations)
Lost Classics of Salsa 1 by Various Artists
CD includes:
1. Palos De Fuego - Candido y su Moviemiento
2. Oyarde - Louie Colon y su Combo
3. My Ghetto - Kent Gomez & his Orquesta
4. Tumbaron La Veintiuna - Orquesta de Cuchon
5. El Vago - Danny Gonzalez y su Orquesta Sensacional
6. No Puedes Amar - Los Hermanos Rivera y su Orquesta
7. El Beso Que Me Diste Tu - Orquesta Ritmo Swing
8. Sufriendo - Orquesta La Solucion
9. Tres Pata - La Ritmo Tropical
10. Los Muchachos de Belen - Orquesta Olivieri
If you like the popular stuff, try artists like Marc Anthony (Older stuff, before 2000), Frankie Negron, Victor Manuelle any Salsa 200? compilation CD, etc. but may I suggest you give the others a listen first. Anyone else with suggestions?
