What I'm listening to right now...

@Abayarde
what was that tune you just played

"yo traigo la rumba para el solar"

:D
what a tune... hope you dont mind me asking
sorry for the late response... :(
that is a rare tune from Orquesta Mayombe, singing Chico Alvarez, named "Rumba En El Solar". This was originally included in their album "Con El Ritmo Del Tambó" (1981) from Palomonte Records (San Francisco, CA, USA).

what do you listened in the show was the digital conversion I made from a well preserved LP. I haven't seen this on CD.

hehehe........ I have been listening to cuban music rhythms with romantic lyrics and i tell you that my favorite is the Bolero hands down.... i know that others may like more for example the Son-Romantico played by the sextetos in the early 1900s, or the cuban music rhythms with romantic lyrics by conjuntos and charangas, or the cuban music rhythms with romantic lyrics by big orchestras like Havana Casino and Lecuona Cuban Boys, etc.... or maybe songs like Sway, a Cha Cha Cha- Romantica by Perez Prado Orchestra, sung by Rosemary Clooney.... or the Songo-Romantico, or the Timba-Romantica, or Salsa Romantica.... or others will tell me that they like more the cuban music rhythms with romantic lyrics by the Orquestas Tipicas that played Danzones in the 1800s

hehehe...... everyone can have their opinions, but to me the best cuban music rhythm with romantic lyrics is the Bolero, because not only the lyrics of bolero is romantic, also every aspect of the genre is.... like the music, singers phrasing, the dance, etc etc, to me the bolero is the best genre for a romantic evening

hehehe..... some romantic music out there are to monga, but not the bolero, this is just another reason why i think that the bolero is the best cuban music rhythm with romantic lyric hands down

best regards all

these are just some of my favorites

1. Celio Gonzalez - En El Balcon Aquel
2. Orlando Contreras - En Un Beso La Vida

hehehe..... dont get me wrong on my coment, it is true that the Bolero is my favorite romantic music but i want to make clear that i also like other cuban music rhythms with romantic lyrics

best regards all

these romantic music by the Lecuona Cuban Boys are never to old for me, they are some of my favorite, i like the variety in music, the orchestration is different from conjuntos

1. Dime Adios - Son-Romantico
2. Luna de Montecarlo - Rumba-Romantica

Better then the one who had a small hit with it: Al Delory who in my opinion just 'stole' it.
In what way did Al Delory steal this song from Willy? Willy didn't compose it.
Willy's version is a cover of italian Claudio Baglioni's hit.

It is only stealing if the use of the song wasn't cleared with the composers rights organization(s).
Copyright law is there to protect both the artist's work and fair use of it for everyone else.
Anyone can legally create a cover of any song, as long the rights are cleared.

You are absolutely right about that, my English sigh..... I just cannot express the same as in my own language.

CaliChris hereis one of my favorits from Wayne Gorbea

I learned myself calling Rueda Calls on this records. Because of the relaxed rhythm I could focus on the calls:-)
This is also a very good song for beginners.
