Youtube notes saying this is from 1954 seem incorrect: The Champs recorded it in 1957, basing it on Cachao's Como Mi Ritmo No Hay Dos (Cuba 1957). But I can't find a recording date...
I had no idea Tequila was based on that Cachao track. Anyway, according to Discogs, the Damiron y Chapuseaux track came out on an album on Montilla records, with a cat. no. FMS-2035. Release date is unknown but FMS-2029 is from 1959 and FMS-2042 is from 1960. Draw your own conclusions.
It's a great version, incidentally.
Edit: I was confusing this with the Cortijo version. I didn't know this one, but I think I like it. The flute is good.
