I had no idea Tequila was based on that Cachao track. Anyway, according to Discogs, the Damiron y Chapuseaux track came out on an album on Montilla records, with a cat. no. FMS-2035. Release date is unknown but FMS-2029 is from 1959 and FMS-2042 is from 1960. Draw your own conclusions.

It's a great version, incidentally.

Edit: I was confusing this with the Cortijo version. I didn't know this one, but I think I like it. The flute is good.

Not salsa (I hope I am forgiven) but I found this cumbia with a lot of moog synthesiser which I am loving:
I’m on a quest to find more Latin with moog now.

Quite futuristic - I thought at first it was a cumbia electrónica from recent years. It's from 1979, and sounds like it has a heavy funk/disco influence.

If I hear any Latin tracks with Moog I'll let you know. I vaguely recall something. Maybe a Fruko champeta track.

maybe, i believe that is played by his band.... it has some synthesizer sounds as Irakere and Van Van used to use....clearly we can hear real instruments on the brass and percussion, etc.... as you know Paulito FG is a band director

i read the other day that Los Van Van are on tour in NYC....hope everything goes well for them in the city of skyscrapers
