What are the best On2 Intermediate Salsa videos?

I just Googled around the subject and hit this post, but it doesn't specify which ones are On2 (and the reviews on Amazon.com claim the New York ones are On1), besides which many of the DVDs reviewed seem to be out of print.

Is there a more recent equivalent post, or can someone provide some recommendations of On2 DVDs or online videos that are still available? I just bought Eddie Torres' Salsa Nightclub Style, but found it disappointingly basic. That said, I'm new enough to On2 (and rusty enough at salsa in general) that I wouldn't need something much more advanced to challenge me.

Cheers,

I have some of the DVD's listed in that thread. Several of them are on1 and on2. i.e. A pattern is taught and demonstrated in both timings on each DVD.

There are many instructors mentioned in that thread. What instructor are you particularly interested in? Maybe I can point you in the right direction.

Thanks both. The Baila Soc courses sound good, but given that I'm jobhunting at the moment, probably not wise until I find something!

Azzey - I know nothing about salsa instructors by name, though I can tell you what I like in teaching style (much of which seems to be rare or nonexistent):

  • On2 only
  • An emphasis on principles, technique, musicality etc over moves (not without moves, but breaking them down as much as possible to ensure good fundamentals)
  • Where there are moves (and obv it's nice to have a few), breaking them down into their component sections rather than stringing together turn patterns arbitrarily (as most salsa teachers do, which inevitably means I end up learning them by rote)
  • Camera angles esp in the teaching sessions that focus as much as possible on the person demonstrating facing away from the camera
  • In lieu of that, camera angles that avoid the person demonstrating facing toward the camera. Facing the camera seems to be a common, natural, and IMO extremely bad way of demonstrating.
Can you point to any that roughly fit those?
