Two landmark salsa album to be re-released. Salsa Romantica albums to be released, that is.

On September 11th Universal will release the following two albums:

Johnny & Ray - Salsa con Clase (1988)
Johnny & Ray - Night Gold (1989)

What makes these albums landmarks you ask?

It changed the careers of the guys involved with the albums, it even changed one guys name forever.

Johnny Zamot (now known as Johnny Ray) hired a singer by the name of Ray Sepulveda. They recorded Salsa con Clase in 1988 and the salsa romantica hits "Mascarada", "Margarita" came off the album. The album is highly sought after by salsa enthusiasts but was out of print from 1990-present. Night Gold their second release from 1989 (also OOP) spawned the hits "Bandolera", "Mientete", "Piel De Azucar", "Ay Papa". Bandolera is the most popular song off this album.

In 1990 Ray Sepulveda signed a deal to become a solo artist with the now defunct RMM Records. Johnny Zamot, could no longer use the moniker Johnny & Ray. Zamot came up with the cleaver idea to drop the ampersand and become Johnny Ray from that day forward.

Johnny Ray has made some great albums after Ray Sepulveda's departure but has never been able to reach the success of Salsa con Clase and Night Gold. Ray Sepulveda had a few hits from 1990-1999.

I am waiting for these albums, I have never heard them in full. I have only heard the hits that I mentioned above. I have been told by many people that owned this or own it that they are worth every penny. I know not everyone on this board is a Salsa Romatica fan but I thought I would make mention of these soon to be re-released albums.

Salsabor, you are definitely "in the know."

Nightgold is definitely a great album.
I was burning those files out on my car thats how good that album was.
Ray Sepulveda is a great singer and he can definitely make a song flow.
Not sure if it was on Nightgold or Salsa Con Clase, but "Ay Papa" is a great song.
