Trying to change my profile photo

Hi all,

I've just spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to change my profile photo, to no avail. The only info I can find is

The maximum size of your custom image is 150 by 150 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller)

which really does not tell me much.

I have tried my photo as a jpeg and a gif, and I've now reduced it so much it is just 10.3kb, yet still all I get is

Unable to save image

I don't mind spending a few hours of my life trying to change my picture, but at least at the end of that time I expect to have changed it. Instead I've wasted my day and have nothing to show for it.

Any help gratefully received.

Currently none of our members is able to upload a picture or change his current one. We are aware about this issue and it's on our to-do list, so we'll take care of it.

This problem was already mentioned in the thread uploading profile picture, which is shown on the first page of threads when you enter this section of the forum.

Unfortunately this is one of the things our technical team looks into (although not the highest priority) but, alas, they seem to be MIA. Hopefully they'll resurface soon, and we can get a variety of technical items sorted out.

I presume no news on this front..uploading a new picture is still not possible, correct?

Or am I not doing it right?

Sadly not, since our technical team only recently has been back in action and is first dealing with some other high-priority stuff. But it's not forgotten and we'll take care of it.

Sorry for the spoilt, melodramatic, ott tone of my original post; it's ridiculous how minor things sometimes seem important, when in retrospect they obviously aren't.

No offence taken, at least from my point of view. it's understandable that in the eye of the user this is an important issue as they want to either set up a profile photo at all or want their new one to appear. But then again we, moderators, have to consider other issues as well pertaining to the general operation of the forum. So while it may take a bit more time to fix this one, we'll not forget it and it'll be dealt with.

Ture, but after I'd spent a small amount of time trying to change my photo I should have given up and done something more useful with my life, and I'm sure I didn't really waste a day on this one as I claimed. So my thread may have been reasonable but my post was ridiculous.

Ironically, I now prefer the photo I had originally (and still have) to the one I tried to change it to. Be careful what you wish for is one of my favourite sayings as it happens. (Perhaps think carefully before posting on online forums should become another one of my favourite sayings, when I consider the above and a couple of other things I've posted on here over the last year.)
