Transitioning from Power2 to ET2

The bigger question is what constitutes dancing to tumbao :D Most on2ers who break on the second and sixth beat to coincide with the slap of the tumbao claim that is how/why they dance on2.

To make preceding step coincide with the open tones of tumbao is equally valid as well, except then it comes in conflict with how the ETon2 (which is most widely danced on2 on world stage today), is explained to most people.

I dance to the slap as well as the open tones.

I aim to step on the second open tone ie 8& and 4& - this is how it's generally danced as far as I know in NY.

For beginners the count used is 1-2-3, 5-6-7 - as it's much easier to learn that initially, but as dancers become more advanced and more immersed they learn about using the second open tone of the tumbao.

This is all as far as I'm aware but I can't say I'm 100% right either way - however I do enjoy dancing to the tumbao as described above.
