The basket step

Hey guys,

Does anyone know why the basket step is called that? I am planning on teaching it tonight. I have heard it called that at several places, but I don't know why, and it would be good to know in case any of my students ask...if you don't know what step I am talking about...lookup salsa basket on youtube and there are a few videos with it.

What is basket step? Never heard of it. It could be a move I know without knowing that is what it is called.

I've always assumed it was just the way the move looks, i.e., catching the follower in a basket formed by the arms.
