My point would be that there has been far less change from then till now, than prior to that period which was a hotbed of creative formation.
Of course the dance didn't get to there then stop, however it did reach the essential form by which it would be recognised from then till now.
Hence it can be considered the closest thing to the apotheosis of that particular dance form. In constrast to what went before it which was continually subject to marked change and alteration.
