Taught Salsa vs. Salsa de la sala

Where is your native country?

My reason to start learning was I was going to Colombia for Christmas one year and wanted to know how to dance. The dancing stuck. Whatever reason someone dances is their own and no one should tell them whether those reasons are valid or not.

The people that learn to love the music and the dance will stick with it and those that don't will fall by the wayside.

In my case the love of the music and the dance brought me to Puerto Rico

The main elements of dance are

1. The music, the rythm, the feeling it gives you and moves your body.
2. Your partner, the enjoyment of doing it with her, our mutual joy.

You think non-latinos who take lessons to learn salsa or those who didn't grew with it do it as a chore or a duty and not because they enjoy it :)

Growing up hearing the music and with people who can dance to it, gives you an advantage. It doesn't automatically make you a better dancer or bring you greater joy. For that you have to put in same effort as anyone else.

BTW do you happen to dance any style and music that you didn't grow up with?
