I just found out a way to lazily practise spotting! Just sit and spin your rotating chair and spot the computer monitor.

Hahaha, yeah, I have actually tried that one in the empty office late in the evening. I've also spotted on a roundabout in a kids playground - it was 10pm at night so no one saw me

it's fun until your chair loses momentum a tad...i got dizzy after that. haha but it really worked! gonna keep doing it. i wonder how well it will transfer to the dance floor. haha

Even if the chair loses momentum you can stil spot. The only thing is that you're stretching your neck a lil' longer to maintain the spotting.
Once you get used to that, no matter how fast/slow you spin, you'll just spot naturally.
