SF Shines Compilation Part 2

I hope everyone's having an awesome summer so far! Surely we're all well rested and ready to tackle part 2 of the awesome shines project we were able to pull off a couple of months ago. (SF Shines Compilation/Routine Idea? Thread) :mrgreen:

We got a lot of great feedback on how to make round two an improvement from round one. So we're gonna have shorter song pieces to dance to, more time to get the submissions in, and we'll rotate the song picking honor amongst the participants to make sure to get more musical tastes represented.

On that note, the song choice for this installation is in the hands of our resident pajama shiner & salsemerlizer-- sweavo! He was chosen because he was the very first shiner to submit his video on part 1. Our song for this compilation is Goza by Cal Tjader and you can preview it here. It's an instrumental piece, lighter than the last number, and it has a really good tempo for deliberate shining. So have a listen! Get into its groove. Make sure you think you can flow to or choreograph to it. We don't want folks popping up pages later complaining about the choice. *giving the side eye to someone* If on the off chance you can't hear the clave, you think the song was written in 5/4 timing, or you otherwise just can't get your feet to move to it, send me a PM advising. If more than 3 folks aren't feeling it, sweavo has a backup for us (but I think he'll make us sorry if anyone opts for it

Anywho, I'm gonna report back later with a compilation of all screennames who may have even remotely expressed an interest in joining. I think Flujo's got a partial list started. You've got until Tuesday the 7th to add your name for consideration or plead your way out of it, lol. On Wednesday, assuming everyone's had a chance to listen to the song and get geared up, I'll divvy up the song and assign sections. They'll be 30 seconds long, MAX. More details to come!

And for your entertainment while we e-gather/wait... may I introduce our friendly hecklers.... jambo and offbeat!!!! *insert thunderous applause and see below* :mrgreen:

look, I do not know what kind of video YOU are filming but I am planning on keeping mine rated PG and safe for children.....................now where did I leave those fluorescent bike pants and mesh t shirt of mine............*shudders
 
Dang, where were the hecklers to keep me on schedule?? :oops: :oops: Got caught up elsewhere so that Tuesday deadline (today!) is kind of a bust. Sorry comrades! I'm back at attention though... making way for the shines bug to catch hold again, and hopefully injecting some lighter spirits back on the board. :cool:

If you've been meaning to film yourself dancing, here you have it! If you just wanna act silly and share your love of salsa with the board, here you have it!! Ladies especially... this is the perfect opportunity to have something planned to do during those awful/awesome (whichever applies) t-stances. You can't find a friendlier reception than here on SF. ;)

Let the weighing in begin... I'll post our shiners playlist on Thursday. Changes will still be okay afterwards, since we DO have an awesome videogragher who can piece us together if need be. But I'm sure he'd prefer we go easy on him this time. :P

I'm so glad you said what you said Brownie. This is a bit of fun really. You don't have to be a shine god (piel canela) or goddess (brownskin) to take part. Just bring it, whatever it is. It's about sharing your enjoyment with SF/the world.

It can be about improving as well but it doesn't have to be. I truly believe you'll get a little better just by taking part. You might find that by doing this you'll improve your confidence. God knows, the poor Salseras on the dance floor are being subject to even more jigging and wining from me and that's thanks to taking part in the last video. Good job I'm not out often. :lol:

So...grab your cameras, download the track and let's see what you've got (errr, JAMBO, Offbeat *ahem*).

Hmmmm.... just realized that our song is only 2 minutes long. Sweavo, is that the true length or did you give us a preview size? Flujo, are you cool with working your magic in case we need to add length?

It seems we'll multiple-book on the segments regardless. Same as we did last time, so not a big deal. Will play around with segment breaks ranging from 20 to 30seconds and see what we come up with... :)

If we had more gals on board I'd say let's do guys vs gals :D. But I *think* we'll be okay with fixing the song to match the shines. Flujo did a remarkable job with that the last go round. Are you just banana-dancing in hopes of getting a later deadline date within the same project? :P
