Seattle Salsa Congress 2013 Roll Call

How about a SF dinner, guys :) (We are now at least five SFers coming :))

Yes, we should! Since I know you guys are already spending a lot to come here, I’ll tell you right away that in Seattle it’s easy to find good restaurants, but they are not inexpensive. There are tons of cheaper restaurants, mostly ethnic, and they’re mostly just OK, lack ambiance, etc. At least that’s my experience… I’ll consult with the other locals.

The best place that's not overly expensive, a little bit overly cool, latinosy and has food is The Saint. The only place on this planet to drink tequila and do it again. As Mambo_Cec said, the great food places (restaurants) in Seattle are expensive. The good ones - depends on your taste. Bars - great. And there are bars with good food.
Also good choice would be to go for a seefood and/or salmon. Because of great supply, it's fresher and cheaper there than anywhere else, but Alaska.

When on the West Coast I love going to sushi places, but I am up for anything. I love ethnic restaurants and Yelp reveals a plethora of very highly rated (and inexpensive) ones in Seattle (actually the top rated ones on Yelp are the ethnic places, not the expensive ones :))

Safari Njema Restaurant
La Teranga
Altaye Ethiopian Restaurant
Isla Manila Bar & Grill
Chef Cafe
(Ethiopian)
Tropicos Breeze (Salvadoran)

Also, I am coming from NY so pretty much any restaurant you take me to will seem cheap. ;)

Then we can take you to an expensive one! :p Actually, on our many trips to NY we always noticed how restaurants' prices are pretty much like here, or even cheaper!

In any case, Saturday is the only day we can do it, 6:30 - 7:00, will that work for everyone? Still working on some suggestions.

Funny guy, hahaha. I wish I could join you guys but I will be landing too late for dinner Fri and leaving Sat before 7pm.

You're only coming to Seattle from Boston for one day? Wow! Here I was I was quite hardcore last weekend going to the Dominican Republic from Saturday morning to Monday night, for two nights of dancing (and beach :D), but I think you have me beat! Flight from NY to the DR is only 3.5 hours, you are flying 5+ hours for only one night of dancing--that's hardcore! :)

Works for me! Now, isn't the hotel pretty far from Seattle? Any good places nearby? In any case, I can probably drive.

So it looks like we have Groovy Mambo,SnowDancer,Sabrosura,Mambo_CEC,Salsastudent and two other part time SFers,in all a party of 7 as gzboston cannot join us. We are working on the logistics, since we are assuming that the out of town folks will be coming from the congress hotel. Sabrosura made some suggestions and I would like to put those out there, with the caveat that most of them while highly rated on YELP, are difficult to get to and some are in sketchy neighborhoods.(yeah we have those too..). I say we all vote as to where we would like to go. I've added 3 to Sabrosura's list along with links to their websites, when a final decision is made on the location, we can figure out how we'll meet up. The plan is to do it Saturday night with a START between 6.30pm and 7.00pm. Cheers!!!

My additions are:

Salsastudent's addition

Safari Njema Restaurant
La Teranga
Altaye Ethiopian Restaurant
Isla Manila Bar & Grill
Chef Cafe
(Ethiopian)
Tropicos Breeze (Salvadoran)

As much as I'd love to eat at all of these places (I'll probably try a few the rest of the time I'm there), my first preference is the sushi place :)

I vote for Jae's.

OK, checking in too. For the few who don't know, I'm MAMBO-CEC's SO.
I'm voting for Jae's too, mostly because it has an extensive menu (take note of all the sub-tabs under the dinner tab), and - full disclosure - it's two blocks from our house!

Jae's it is for me too!!, Salsastudent I know you're not a big sushi fan, but the menu is somewhat extensive, so hopefully you can find something on it that you like!!!. I will try to make a reservation sometime today at Jae's, I'm hoping for a 6.30pm -7.30 pm time slot on Saturday night. To Snowdancer I hope you can join us!!!

I'm ok with the menu there, how's the parking?
