Scottish Salsa Congress 17th-19th January 2014

Son Montuno
Well I thought I'd take it on myself to announce the SSC this year!

We're coming up to 1 month and counting until the King of Scottish Salsa events kicks off, and boy do you NOT want to miss it!

"Why should I come to Scotland to dance Salsa?" you ask. "Surely, you all live in kilts, singing folk songs whilst munching on Haggis! There can't be much room for Latin dance amongst all the ceilidhs and goat milking!"

How wrong you are! Head up to the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor Hotel and discover just HOW wrong!!

Year on year people rave about the SSC being one of the friendliest congresses they know, and that's not without merit. The fiesta atmosphere is strong, as is the love of dance and music!

In terms of a dance venue there is a beautiful large ballroom, always impeccably floored for the event and catered for by a roster of your favourite DJ's from far and wide. Here you can expect a night of hard Salsa, with some Cha and Bachata to spice the mix. You'll also find a crowd of dancers who eschew 'professionals' corner and just have a good time!

Beyond that there is the Cuban room, which has been literally doubled as of last year, with plenty of space to bust out your Casino till you burst! Again expect sympathetic DJ'ing, and if you prefer your Cubano dance with the right soundtrack, you got it! (No commercial Salsa to spike the Timba here!)

If that's not enough there's the Kizomba room in the bar space, which has been literally PACKED in since it launched a couple of years back. I am no Kimzomba dancer, but any space filled to capacity with entranced looking dancers must be doing something right!

If classes are your thing, you'll find something to catch your interest throughout the days, and more than that you'll find an incredibly relaxed, and fun oriented environment in which to get the most out of them.

And Edinburgh? Well if you ever feel the need to take a break from dancing (there is always space to dance in all the hours the congress runs, you never need to stop), there is the stunning city of Edinburgh. It's not been called the 'Athens of the North' for nothing. You won't regret a visit or 5!

----

To summarise:

We have space to dance in
We have music you will like
We have one of the friendliest and most passionate dance hordes going
We have deep fried mars bars (it's Scotland)
We have Haggis (yes again, it's Scotland)
We have the most railway convenient venue in the world!
We have plenty of hotel options within easy walking distance
We have midget gems (I always have a stash, hit me up for your fix - and yes I do mean the jelly sweets!)

So if you like Salsa, you like dancing to it, and you like friendly, passionate, like-minded people, you really shouldn't be anywhere else this January other than:

The Scottish Salsa Congress 2014!
