In this invigorating documentary, lonely hearts from all over New York City— from an ER doc and an equities trader to a construction contractor and a cop—meet in Spanish Harlem once a week at Santo Rico Dance School, where they learn the rich art of salsa. Under the great salsa dance teacher Tomas Guerrero's tutelage, they have only six weeks to rehearse for a public performance. Featuring music by Tito Puente, Eddie Santiago, Héctor Lavoe, Norah Jones, and more.

The ABAKUA Afro Latin Dance Company will be performing at this years TriBeca Film Festival on Thursday, April, 22nd. ABAKUA’s performances will be a part of the film festival’s popular event. ABAKUA is the opening performance for the world premiere of the film Spirit of Salsa. They will have two abridged performances at 8:10 pm and 9:30 pm.
