San Francisco Congress 2012

Sabrosura

Son Montuno
I think I am going :) (assuming work doesn't get crazy, which has happened before right before a congress...)

I will probably get the full pass, as the party pass probably doesn't include the Jack & Jill and I really want to see it.

Anyone else going?

Questions for SFers in SF :)

1. Any way to get a discount on the full pass?
2. Is there anyone that can host me? :) Ideally someone who is also going to the parties so we can wander back together after dancing all night :)

Yippee !!! :) :)

I didn't see Jack and Jill last year. In the years before last Jack and Jill was open to everyone to watch. Unless something changed last or this year. Since they started J&J, I watched all of them till 2010 and in some years I didn't even had a full party pass.

Can host you any time. I have a comfortable couch.

Will ask around for discounted pass. One way to get is by being volunteer at the congress. Not sure if you prefer that route.

Thank you much :)

Let me know if you are able to confirm that the Jack & Jill is open to non-full pass holders to watch? In that case I will most likely get the party pass and sleep in and enjoy San Francisco during the day. :) I am not too keen on congress workshops, the ones I have been to have not been that great. I guess I am very picky with my dance classes and teachers, plus I do not dance well when I haven't had enough sleep.

It is not worth buying a full pass, only to watch the J&J.

Quickly scanned the congress website. I didn't find them mentioning anywhere that you need a day pass or full pass to watch J&J. Other than information for those who want to compete in J&J, there is no other information. The registration prices don't show J&J anywhere in the various passes for the congress.

I think J&J will be open to everyone to watch. Will ask the organizer if I run into him anywhere.

I'm getting my discount by working security again this year. Saw the Jack & Jill last year and the year before but I don't know the entrance requirements.

I asked Ricardo (the organizer) about the J&J. You only need an evening pass to watch masters J&J at the congress. Here is what he said in his two replies (sent in quick successions) to my email query:

"The pass is the evening pass for the master J&J for the open you can come the eve to"

"for the masters J&J you can do he Sunday evening pass, for the open you need the whole day pass"

A bit cryptic but you don't need a full pass.

Great, thanks for following up! Party pass for me then. :) Maybe a SF-SFers get together for lunch/dinner on Saturday/Sunday? :)

Saw this in a recent email :

Bought my plane tickets for SF. :) Arriving Friday night, leaving Sunday night. Less than two weeks left till the congress! So excited to dance on the West Coast. :)

And as a bonus, I will be flying with Virgin America for the first time, I have heard they are the Holy Grail of airlines. :D

The leads of the West Coast welcome you!

Excellent. :) I am not going to the workshops, so I will be dancing all night long, and sleeping and eating delicious San Francisco sushi during the day. :D

You'll be there? :) Will PM you so I can find you among this massive quantity of West Coast leads one hears mythical stories about. :)

I'll be at the Vancouver Salsa showcase this wekend and the Seattle congress over Thanks giving (Santo Rico and Eddie Torres scheduled to teach Boogaloo, yeah!) so I won't be at SF.
Offbeat should be able to help you with the massive quantities of leads. :D

I'm in for at least a couple of evenings. I love to do the whole shebang with hotel room. But it's hard to justify this as I live about 15 miles away. And hard to justify as I just came back from a two week vacation (Got to see El Gran Combo in Barcelona )…
But I'm still thinking it over :)

But the SF congress is in-between the two other ones you are going to. Are you saying three congresses in three weekends is too much? :P
