Someone on this forum recently found a version of this track from the early 70s, thus (probably) predating both of those. I think it was made in PR. It might even have been @MamboJazz who found it. I should do a search but it's late and I'm tired.

I believe Kimbo Kimbisa is by just Graciela, from her 1974 album; the & Machito is just there due to a split compilation.

It's the same songwriter, Cuban Antar Daly. He was friend of Machito, Graciela and Nacho Sanabria.

It's more or less the same composition, although in Graciela's version the lyrics of the chorus have been changed somewhat.
Quite interesting, there were tons of recordings of this around 1962; seems Cauby Peixoto popularised it, thought there's a maybe earlier recording in Italian, an unpublished(?) one in Spanish by Violeta Rivas. Written in Spanish by Dino Ramos (Argentina) and Casto Dario (Paraguay).

I think Machito's version of his track Babarabatiri was a hit for him back in 1951 (other big names did well with their versions of the same track too).
Wow, Frankie Ruiz and his musicians really made something much better out of a cheasy theme. Great song to dance to. Alejandro's cover differs in nothing from Frankie's, but ok he pushes the song onto the dancefloor again, so no complaint.

I believe the version by Rubby Haddock and his orchestra in '91 is what "inspired" Don Perignon to cover this song during the height of the bland "Salsa Romantica" era, and stay competitive in the market.
