Comparing social to club, at a social people tend to go for the dancing, while at a club, you'll have a mix of people going for the music to hang out with friends and have to search to find people to dance with. And, Im not sure what you mean by Social events ?, as to clubs..?
Im also not surprised, by the music, to which you may have been exposed. .. , or not, No guarantees by any means. there are.good and bad DJs everywhere , musically speaking .
Maybe you should venture farther afield in the social club scene .
I need to approach Salsa differently from Ballroom, not making excuses, just taking me longer to get good at it because I haven't spent as much time learning this style, but not saying that my past experience hasn't helped me make the transition, and i am being challenged, but any progress I see, sure makes me more confident on the dance floor.
