Salsa in Vancouver?

I'm headed to Vancouver for a conference from October 29-31st. I will likely fly in a day or two early and leave on Nov. 1st. What is the scene like up there? Is it worth staying over on Saturday night to get some extra dancing in?

I've been dancing up in vancouver BC and loved it!! However, that was a year and a half ago. I still get emails from them updating me on whats going on. The next email I get I will pass on to you.

Quix is probably the most up to date on the scene out of the regulars here on this forum.

If not, Roger Chen is pretty well known instructor in Vancouver - you could probably google for him.

Hey, just tag along your message. Vancouver have a lots of great dancer, specially the follows, I'm driving up there from Seattle with Charlene Rose, I just hosted her 3 hr workshop event here in Seattle, had a very good turn out, thought I drive her up there for Vancouver workshop, by the way, want to take Afro-Cuban, don't miss out :) she's great! check out: http://salsa.meetup.com/226/calendar/8718456/
Personally, I'm only staying for couple of days, I think she got a place to stay when she is there, but if anyone know of a reasonable Hotel there or know someone want to host me, please let me know, I'll be more then happy to return the favor for Seattle visit.

On my way there from Seattle with Charlene this Thursday and Friday, anyone can host me for couple of night, I (Jim) can offer private salsa lessons in exchange or return the favor when you come to Seattle.

http://www.salsavancouver.net

29th - there is a social at urban beat center every wed. predominantly on1, beginners, some intermediate. music is typically 1-5 on a scale of 10

30th - howard johnson. experience could vary from very bad to moderate.
if you are into WCS at all, you might want to go to the event listed at http://www.canadianswingchampions.com/mylestessa2006apr18_029.htm. there is a huge overlap between wcs and salsa community in vancouver, and this even has recently been changed in format to be mixed wcs/salsa.

31st - weekly events hosted by citysalsavibe.com. there is a halloween party at the polish community center (see salsavancouver website). this one is likely to be more fun.

1st - howard johnson again

also, look out for event postings on salsavancouver.net. if anything new comes up, it will usually be posted there.

Coming to Vancouver week of Nov 17...How's Atlantis on Tuesdays? Level of people? Good time to arrive when it's busy? Thanks.
