Salsa in Ottawa

Hey guys,

I think this is my first post so maybe I should say hi (edit: OK, not really - but almost!). :) I'm from western Germany (sorry for my bad english!) and dance salsa since three or four years but I have intensive dancing experience since the end of the last millennium. For me salsa is a great dance for not showing off and enjoy some partnering and interpretation of the music. I think I'm a fluent on1 and on2 dancer and would even survive one or two cuban tracks.

In a week I will visit the Carleton University in Ottawa for two weeks and would love to have some dances in the evening. Are there personal recommendations for parties and clubs?

TIA! :)

Herzlich willkommen in Canada! :)

The vast majority of the dancers in Ottawa dance On1 although there are people who can dance On2/both well.

There are two main Salsa events in Ottawa:

Rahim's Latin Friday which happens every Friday 9PM-1AM:
http://www.rahimlovessalsa.com/

Salsaria which happens more or less every second Saturday:
http://salsaria.ca

Both events both play mostly Salsa (mostly dura) along with Cha Cha, Bachata and the occasional Zouk/Kizomba. They are both located close to downtown. Rahim's is located on one of the entertainment streets with bars/restaurants/clubs so you can even go out and catch a drink or two after.

I DJ (part-time) for both events; I *think* I will be playing Rahim's on April 4 while you are in town so you should definitely come to that one. ;)

Please feel free to message or FB me (Chris Feist) if you have more questions. :)

So, what is the latest in Ottawa? I did a few internet searches and didn't find much. Where are the best places to dance now?
