Salsa in Cairns Australia

I'll be up in Cairns for a week over Christmas/New Years Eve (27th to 2nd). Can anyone recommend any good places to pick up a class/social while I'm up there? It would be even more awesome if I could get in touch with some Cairns saleros/as if you're interested in showing a Brissy boy around.

P - did you have any luck finding salsa / contacts in Cairns? I have a night coming up there in July (got hold of a $135 Cairns-Osaka flight ) Also, a friend of mine has relocated from Kobe to the Gold Coast and I'll probably visit him soon - any scene there that you know of?
