RIP Descarga.com

For many years I purchased CDs locally at El Eden Musical, Clifton, NJ and from Descarga.com. When I retired and relocated to Clermont, FL, I continued to purchase all of my salsa music from Descarga.com. I was even able to purchase salsa CDs of Colombian and Venezuelan bands which were hard to come by. Now with the closing of Descarga.com I am totally lost and depressed because I cannot find any alternative sites to purchase my beloved salsa. I have been an avid collector and aficionado for fifty years. Now I feel like a fish out of water. Amazon, CD Universe and CD Baby to name a few, only carry old Salsa standards which I already have, some on vinyl, some on CD, and hardly any new salsa releases. Does anyone know of any sources where I can purchase Salsa. I prefer CD, or vinyl as I rip to wav files for digital archiving. However, if there is no other alternative, I guess I can do MP3 downloads. Thanks in advance for any help!

Things are tough for "Salsa" during this second decade of the 21st century. We're living in an era where now, more than ever before, one has to do their due diligence and find out exactly who is out there and active on the musical landscape. CD Baby would probably be your best bet to specifically learn about new releases. One issue is that not everyone who leads an ensemble takes advantage of such a platform. Many times, artist have their own sites, if at all, or rely on what's left of brick and mortar retail spaces. Nevertheless, I have to assume that most artists/bands are going to use CD Baby more often than they would iTunes, Discogs.com, etc.

Also be on the lookout for the many blogs that devote itself to the music. Some of whom will have advance notice of releases about to drop. Not to mention the online streaming radio specialty programs devoted to Salsa. Google can help in pinpointing them all.

On that note I'd like to plug the debut solo release of one of the best interpreters of the 21st century generation. A really exceptional production with a heavy duty cast of musicians

Oh my goodness, I remember how much I ordered from them. They were the place to go for all my CD needs. I so miss them and will say, they did such a great job of sending me anything I needed. I would call them and email them for new titles that they had not yet gotten in. They would get it for me and if not, they would let me know. Such a good place for my CD needs. Thanks Descarga. com for everything.

This is really sad. Beyond just buying CD‘s, which, yes, is an outdated business model descarga.com offered so much invaluable information and deep insight about salsa and latin music. Great reviews, historical articles, information on musicians, instruments, discographies etc. I don‘t know much about the salsa community, since i am not really part of it, but that only should have made a fairly low cost business model. I would have even payed a subscription. These guys really had profound knowledge about the music. Really sad that all this is lost.

There goes my only chance of acquiring "Salsa Night Club Style".
If anyone knows where I can get it in a digital format, it would be much appreciated.

I happened to have downloaded it, but I don't know how to send big files.
