Really smooth salsa dancers

If a couple wants to dance in risqué they don’t need a class or workshop :) same way as if you want to be new agey, you don’t need a class or workshop.

After seeing my IG flooded with sensual workshop videos, I find these demos have an element of voyeurism that people are attracted to. Maybe it’s a generational thing.

Before I started partner dancing, I never thought of Salsa as a risque activity. I still don’t. There are movies like “Along Came Polly” that typecasted latino Salseros, but it wasn’t creepy or anything. Just dumb.

At the time, Lambada was the only dance that came to mind when I thought of “risque” and “taboo”. When I watched it, I saw why it was regarded as such.

Sensual has borrowed those elements and made it commonplace, while turning up the dial to maximum.

There are people now who are trying to normalize this form of contact improv in partner dancing, but I find the borderline between “acceptable” and “unnaceeptable” touching to be blurred and it’s only going to invite a lot of inappropriate behavior in the future, much more than in the past.

Well years ago there was 'sexy salsa'. A name that for me suggested foolishness, re. both the dance and the music. I imagine it was pretty tame compared to the sensual of today, even so I do remember one of its UK practitioners getting sent down for sexual offences.

It's an accident waiting to happen.

I don’t know if this is smooth or not to others. To me it is:

It is one of very very few videos I don’t mind watching frequently. Both are very good and I think he is smooth dancer. I like his dancing

I would love to dance with her! I am sure I never been on the same dance floor with her. That song is also one that is among my fav list.

That girl in red pants and sleeveless white top in the background to the right of couple is also good. She appears when the camera changes the angle at 1:22. More visible around 1:35 and after. Dancing with a leader in black shirt (and grey trousers).
Yes, I've studied it also back then and had copied that combo starting at 0:18 - damn, I forgot it meanwhile. Thanks for reminding me.

Wow that guy might be one of my idols. The first 2.2 minutes were great variations on stuff that I can do lol. But he is way smoother. I have been doing that first combo for a while but mine is a bit sharper in an ugly way.

Yes, and his breakdance shines at 1:45 are cool, too.
And I hope I can dance with Natasha Chumakova some day.

Even as a great dancer you can't always be smooth and good. Samuel Funflow posted a remarkable video of himself dancing unsmooth last weekend at Salsanama. With subtitles he describes why it went wrong and takes the guilt: "The Samuel from the past would have never posted this video. Too many mistakes, too many imperfections. But social media should show reality, not just highlights. So if this helps even one person, then it’s worth sharing."

It's good to learn from it when you understand why something you lead goes unsmooth. Last weekend I was awaiting a strong accent I wanted to hit, but it came later as I thought, so for nearly two eight-counts I fell into basic stepping which was awkward. I learned from it not to wait for it again but keep on dancing.

More shoppulpd do that. It would improve ongevity of people in scene imo

Didn't know him. It's amazing that many of the best EU dancers, DJs and organizers have arabian roots - seems they really have a drive to salsa.
He's African from Morocco. He just comes to dance to other countries sometimes. EU festivals attract dancers from entire planet.

The guys you have in mind (if I guess right) are from opposite side of Mediterranean or even further in Arabian peninsula. Morocco is culturally tightly connected to two salsa countries Spain and France.

Walid reminds me of Eder, just with less stepping.

I like both guys, both of whom are smooth. Eder for his more traditional approach to NYon2 Salsa and Walid for his radical approach to connection, which makes the dancing look very interesting.

Having seen both in person I don’t find any similarities. In above clip Walid is dancing straight up salsa with his individual style. He is smooth. Though the sound is off, I can see the musicality. I didn’t see any agey stuff.

The sound came on when I started the second clip. While I seen him dance many times, I didn’t know his name or who he is. His dancing is always standard issue salsa.

I find they emote very similarly but that is my own impression.

Eder is dancing with Clo Ferreira - how couldn't it be a great time dancing a romantica with her? She would be one of my dream dance partners, but she rarely comes to europe I guess.
