During this Thursday's show, for those of you who missed the interview with Professor Frances Aparicio, we will re-broadcast the full interview. Dr. France Aparicio is a professor of Latin American and Latino Studies, who holds a PhD in Spanish from Harvard University, and specializes in U.S. Latino/a literatures and cultures, cultural studies in Latino & Latin America; popular music; language and cultural identity; literary translation; teaching Spanish to heritage language learners.
Her published books include
Listening to Salsa (1998 ), the co-edited anthologies
Tropicalizations (1997),
Musical Migrations (2003) and
Hibridismos Culturales (2005), and the English translation of Cesar Miguel Rondon's
El Libro de la Salsa. She has written numerous articles on these areas of research and is currently examining Latinidad in Chicago through the study of Latino/as who have two or more Latino national heritages.
