Que no me controlen - JG

Son Montuno
Finally uploaded my review of JG's 2014 CD "Que no me controlen" that was nominated in Cubadisco 2015 (Cuban Grammys) in the category "Best Popular Dance Album by a New Group". He lost to El Niño y la Verdad and I have to agree with that result. But still, QNMC is a very good album albeit more of a happy-go-lucky fun album for having a good time. A party album if you will rather than hardcore.

And here is one of the songs which won in the Lucas Awards 2014 (Cuban video awards) beating Los Van van, Tumbao Habana and Leoni Torres for best popular dance music video. Trivia: the song was written by Randy Malcom of Gente D'Zona.

Hey nicely written review! I am going to check it out ;)
Like I warned...salsa dura and timba dura fans may find it too light, too frivolous but it is really just fun and good for dancing. Since it's on Spotify people can listen for free first and see if they ,like it or at least some of the songs. Next up I'm doing a review of Laritza Bacallao's CD and it is really a "tropical disco" album or something :) we shall see what I come up with. Not really my bag of tea...if one can say so LOL - but very popular in Cuba. She's been o TV in teh US lately as well.

Here is a merengue JG and Larizta Bacallao did with Candido Fabre. Candido has a really hoarse voice but is probably Cuba's best improviser and writes good songs, even if this one is more silly than anything else. Not high on my list of songs but very popular.

And here is a little girl in Havana singing it for some friends of mine - just so you see how popular this stuff is.
